Oil Pan Gasket question

So I'm pretty sure the oil pan gasket on my teg is on the way out, and I'm thinking it should be a pretty straightforward job, but I was just wondering: is it pretty much the same thing as a valve cover gasket, where you just pop the pan off, peel out the old gasket, and put the new one in with some gasket seal? It doesn't seem like there would be much more to it, but I want to get some feedback on doing it yourself before I have to spend a couple grand at a shop for them to do it!

Is it as simple as it seems? Anything I should watch out for?
