There should be at least a couple openings thru the firewall to do this. although, a purist might forego using an existing hole because of possible quality issues and use an unused hole or make a new one. But that's too nitpicky IMO... an existing hole should be fine for most applications... especially if it is an unused one. the easiest way is to start in the engine bay and follow existing wires from something like the fuse box thru the firewall into the car... I usually use something like a wooden chopstick and poke in thru the opening (usually thru a rubber gommet) and check the other side to see where it's popped out. if I'm not mistaken, the big group of wires from the underhood fusebox/relay box usually goes thru the driverside to the cabin fusebox. the wires pop thru pretty high up on the firewall usually well hidden behind the dash.
good luck!
