I just found out a little bit ago that someone had charged $806.51 on my Amex card for a Nextel bill.
I don't even own a Nextel phone and given that, I was pretty pissed. I called up Nextel today to find out if they had any records of me using SS# or Last/First name lookup -- nothing.
Then I called up Amex and they were the most helpful people I've spoken to in a very long time! I'm so glad that at least this part of things is being taken care of properly! They credited my account immediately and set-up an investigation.
