Could this be bad news for the new/next NSX? This is from the latest issue of Motor Trend on news stands now.

Hopefully that doesn't mean they won't make a high end sports car, but they might not go the extremes of the NSX again...and if they don't hopefully they won't tarnish the NSX name and will come up with something else. I like the 60k sports car rumor with a V8..

I will laugh if Honda drops a 300hp V6 in there.
I know they started off making motorcycles but can't they just catch up to the pack and try to make something special?

I agree. Honda is getting 300 horses out of naturally aspirated v6's in 4 door family cars now. If there is a new nsx/high end sports car I dont think it would be hard for them to coax 400+ horsepower out of a v6.

You have to also remember that the current J35 is a SOHC unit and it doesnt feature Honda VTC, or I-VTEC. But if Honda does build another great sportscar it cant be a V6, unless its priced a lot lower.
Ive heard that AHM wants a car in the price range of a Corvette. It would make sense because there is a considerable price/performace gap between the NSX and the S2000. i would say the sticker should range from 45-60k. As far as a V8, Im not against it. Honda could use the engines ia a variety of cars/trucks/suv's. The V8 could be used for: NSX (DOHC, i-VTEC unit, highly tuned), (rest would be SOH VTEC), option on RL, option on MDX, option on the Ridgeline, and whatever car Honda is supposedly going to build above the RL. It could range in size from 4-4.5 liters. Sounds good to me. |

This is pretty much a dead topic, but I heard from an acura rep that they're going to judge how the "comeback" cars do (gto, supra, charger, etc) and if they do well, they'll bring back the NSX with a bigger engine, probably at least a V10, maybe even a V12.

NEO-NSX will have V10 but also another option(rumored V6 AWD) .
V8 confirmed also but for the Honda Ridgeline but who knows. Other rumors around that the next gen supercar will be front engine.....

I would rather spend far less money and get this:
-8.4L V10 = 600hp / 560tq -Updated T-56 Tremec -Twin disc clutch -Variable Valve Timing (crazy sophistication for the Viper) -Electronically actuated throttle (more of that crazy sophistication . . .) ![]() ![]() ![]() double the horsepower of the "cheapest supercar" and $20k left for forced induction goodies

IT SHALL BE!
2010 Acura Nsx: 2010 Acura NSX Is Real After All Massive departure from the original designs, of course. Seems to follow the current design conventions of the RL/TL series. For me though, it looks like they brought back the late 80's sportscar design that I love so much, and properly modernized it (unlike the RX-8, which failed). Like the later Fiero GT (epitome of gorgeous 80's body design, IMO). The only way it could have been better is if it was still mid-engined, but with the reported V-10 powering the beast I think I'll overlook that small flaw. I'm sure many will hate the design change. People will scream "IT'S NOT NSX!" And then the performance numbers will hit ![]() My dream car is born! |
