Arrow Acura to debut RD-X concept

Acura to debut RD-X concept

Toronto, Ontario - The Acura RD-X concept vehicle will make its debut at the 2005 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Sunday, January 9, 2005. The RD-X is a concept version of the upcoming small Acura SUV, which is scheduled go on sale in 2006.

Acura says the RD-X is aimed at "active urban professionals", and features aggressive styling, a wide track, bold fender flares and a unique wood and leather interior based on the feeling of an upscale loft apartment.

Sounds like a better competitor against the RX330..I'm excited to see it, I'm going to NAIAS! I'll get pics.

Great news. The MDX was too expensive.

This sounds like it will be more expensive tho than the MDX. The RX330 is about 10k more than the MDX, and I think that is the market Acura is going after.

I don't agree. I recently compared similarly equipped cars and the MDX and RX330 are very close on the OTD price. At least in our area the Lexus dealer gives way bigger discounts off the MSRP. My RX was discounted sl. more than $4200k. The Acura dealers think you are crazy asking for half that.

I don't think this is still the case. I'm shopping in that market now for my wife and an RX330 optioned out to what an MDX has is about $45K (here in the Northeast) and the MDX comes in around $43K, so they are very close. I was under the impression that the RDX was going after the sub-ute crowd and would sticker around $30-$35.

yes, but the RX330 is a much more luxurious car. judging purely by the comment "Acura says the RD-X is aimed at "active urban professionals", and features aggressive styling, a wide track, bold fender flares and a unique wood and leather interior based on the feeling of an upscale loft apartment." It sounds like acura is going up scale, less utility (an emphasis of the MDX, and more luxury.

wow, about 3 years ago I was checking out prices for a RX and an MDX, and saw the MDX to be $10k more. Perhaps I did not figure in hte option costs.

I do believe the RDX will be much smaller than the MDX, and therefore will be less expensive. The drawing clearly shows a smaller cargo area behind the 2nd row wheels...whereas the MDX has folding 3rd row seats. You're probably looking around TSX price territory.

Sorry Jonnerd, I'm pretty sure you're wrong here. The RDX will slot under the MDX as Acura's entry level SUV. It's been needed to compete with the sportier, smaller luxury SUVs out there.

"The RD-X is a concept version of the upcoming SMALL Acura SUV, which is scheduled go on sale in 2006."
