Concern about buying a new RDX

I posted this in another forum, but did not receive much response, so I thought I'd try here:

Is anyone concerned about buying the RDX in it's 1st model year? I'm sure we've all heard the old adage that one should not buy a car in it's first year of production because of bugs/kinks/etc that haven't been worked out yet.

What do you all think? Has anyone had a positive or negative experience buying a new model Acura in it's 1st year?

Thanks.

Just as a point of reference, I bought my Acura Integra the first year they came out, no problems with it, then got the 1st Gen CL the first year it was available, and now have the 2nd Gen CL which I bought the year it came out. Except for the disposable transmission in the latest CL, I haven't had any problems with any of those automobiles.
I am now considering the RDX, and I imagine I will buy it this year.

I don't know if it was you I replied to, but I'll add it here too:

I think some of this depends on what kind of owner you tend to be. Some people tolerate zero problems while others are ok as long they don't have to return time and again for the same problem.

There is a lot of care that went into the development of the RDX, but most of the parts are going to be tried and true parts. SH-AWD has been out two years, and it's a development of the MDX VTM-4. The motor is a strengthend Accord block and the K series is a very good motor. The Turbo is from a reliable source (conflicting reports of who makes the turbo).

IMO Acura history is not littered with bad first year cars, but each owner is different.

Not to be rude, but that's what the warranty is for, plus with today's lemon laws, i'd feel much safer buying a new car than an old used one. If you're gunna pay that kind of money for a nice car, it's well worth the warranties.

Car 2: 06 Ridgeline
I took a chance and bought one of the first Ridgelines available last march and it has been perfect. Honda usually does it'ss homework. That said that may be what warantees are for but I don't like to visit the shop on a regular basis, and on some cars it could be for various things. I would feel pretty comfortable purchasing one this year however.

Regarding the lemon laws, I think they differ from states to states.

Don't forget it's a "HONDA" manufactured car...!!! That means, "don't worry"...!!! If anything happens in the first 4 years / 50,000 miles, it's covered by ACURA WARRANTY...!!!

If you can afford it, get one...!
I'm noticing that there are a lot of competitors makes on Acura lots...my local dealer here in burlingame, I swear there are SUV's sitting there...

Cad's Chev's BMW's and Mercedes....I pass by there and they haven't moved cept for MDX's....

Keep us posted if you get one...!!!

Don't forget, they're NEW so price negotiations will be very non-existent...good luck man..!!!

Car 1: Acura RDX
Car 2: Acura TSX
13 MPG

This car gets terrible gas mileage.

We are extremely disappointed that the real-world gas mileage is so low.

Do not buy this car unless you understand that it will cost double to run in gas costs as a TSX. It's a good car, but we would not have purchased it had we known about this problem.

This is also what I heard from the dealer this past weekend as well. That was a concern I had at first as well. But since they were out in Japan (I think) for 2 years it put me at a little more ease. Plus yeah the whole warrinty thing sure does help.
