She's apart, again.
Actually its been a week or so.
new personal record 3hr and 26 minutes from start to engine out. Seems like anyone that wants to match up a stage 3 spec clutch to a 6spd dualmass flywheel better not. In a year and half with 6 months of actual driving the flywheel and pressure plate are not resurfaceable. The clutch ate away it all. there are deep channels in both plates. My machinest says its due to the dual mass type of engagment and the clutch disc being so aggressive. I told him i was converting to a spurng clutch and he said it will help reduce the wear, but the clutch disk is still pretty aggressive. Maybe a stage 2 is better suited i dont know, what i do know is that 1.5 yrs ago i spent $750 for a dual mass and spec stage 3 clutch, now its worth nothing. I'll be going to comptech soon, i spoke to some people there. i dont feel paticularly great about the level of help i'll get from them, but at least they're willing to try. They dont stock any parts at the shop, they're all in their wherehouse, he did say they have the designs/blueprints, we will see. I'll have to take a halfday off work for this since they are closed weekends. For those that dont know what im talking about, i am tring to determine the similarities between the NSX & TL-S lightend Flywheels vs. both single and dual Legend Flywheels. ~TRu Hybird

![]() well, it's expensive being a pioneer. It's great info for those that follow you... it doesn't help you much, but learning from your mistakes is a lot cheaper for others ![]()

A sprung clutch is a clutch that has the springs built into the actual clutch disc itself. you would use a single mass flywheel with that. While a dual mass flywheel has the springs built into it while the clutch plate is solid. The point is to engage smoothly and with less shock to the crank. In this situation the single mass flywheel and sprung clutch is more than likley a smother engagment and better off for my application. Hydro or cable is how the clutch get into contact with the flywheel, either setup can use either method. Hydro is known as have the advantage, because theres more feel to it. ~TRu Hybrid

Sign me up for high performance cams. On the subject of parts being made-for custom rods, pistons, rings with wrist pins, and ARP fasteners would cost about 2Gs. Is that good for price? They are said to handle what every we can throw at them.

Labrat, dont you think that you should be looking into making a decent pair of headers or turbo exhaust manifolds instead of addressing internals that have yet to fail(exept for the HG) lets not mention the timming management. ~TRu Hybrid

I have instructed our importer to search for an engine in Japan. It is my understanding that Type 2 engines are not very common in japan. Can anyone advise on this situation. Chris |

Apparently there was not many before but often enough we now see "Alpha Touring = TypeII" JDM engines start to pop-up. So there are some nowadays.
