The security system on my 1993 Acura Vigor has been set off. I cannot get it to deactivate. It has a factory security system with ignition kill. Turning the key in drivers door doesn't work. I don't have the key fob.
I looked up some places online which said to splice into green/black wire by driver's side fuse box and ground it. Tried this, but still no disarm. Maybe I've got the wrong wire? Is there more than one green/black (green wire with black stripe)?
"... splice into green/black wire by driver's side fuse box and ground it..."
OUCH! There's no need to cut wires.
The security system will not arm itself if the hood is open. Actually, it won't arm itself if it thinks the hood is open. So the trick is to make it think the hood is open.
Up front, right by the hood latch, is a switch with a lever on top. When the hood closes, it pushes the lever down and this tells the security system that the hood is latched. If you reove the switch (two 10-mm bolts) and then re-install it upside-down, the hood won't be able to push the lever in. The security system will think the hood is open and it will never arm itself.
IIRC, disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours or so will re-set it. (I left mine overnight.) If you have the original anti-theft stereo, you'll need re-enter your code.
Hey, Shawn! I didn't know you hang here, either! Actually, I don't really "hang" here -- I just pop in from time to time. Not what I'd call a "regular," like I am at the other place.
I don't think you're too likely to get much help with your tranny. When it comes to Vig A/Ts, you're the most knowledgable person I know.

Oh, god help us all, lol. If there's no luck as to finding info here, I can very well spread my findings for someone else that may have the same issue as me, in the future. It's nice to be somewhat active and involved again.
There was a TSB for '93 Vigors that dealt with this. Apparently the alarm would go off when you went to unlock the door. I can't remember what the fix was, but I think the issue was with the lock.

The dealer told me to 1st try the drivers door with the key if that doesn't work try the passenger door. And to turn key in door a couple of times and it alarm system should then recognize you have the key. Differant year models use different doors.

That's not quite correct, but close. The dealer told you to use the passenger door, because it's less likely to be bad(the door lock actuator connectors). Has nothing to do with different year models. All Vigors face the alarm going off opening the drivers door, at one point or another. The passenger side disarming may work, if it's also corroded.

Very nice story, the one and most important reason to keep the security alarm, armed!

andrea, i've never haerd of that problem -- you might be best off heading to the dealership. sorry .
having this same problem right now. I have a 92 vigor and i have the stock alarm and an aftermarket alpine alarm on it. i unlocked my car using the alpine alarm like always, and it set my cars anti theft alarm off. i have tried everything, the hood connector switch, leaving my battery disconnected overnight, looking for the fix, does anyone have any pictures or info on how to bypass the ystem in all...i heard of people cutting the green black wire and grounding it but there are about 4 differant green black wires by the drivers kick panel, another site says go behind the glove box and disarm it from there....cant find the wire... this is getting super strwessful and anyone who knows exactually what wire to cut please help me out!!!
