I'm going to upgrade my brakes to G-stop lines, brembo rotors and Hawk street pads. How much should I expect to pay my installer? And how many hours should this take total?

Definitely less than two hours unless they run into some weird problem. It's pretty easy to do all those things yourself actually. Let us know how it turns out. I'd like to know how to make my brakes a bit firmer...was thinking about doing the lines and Green Stuff pads.

I'm waiting for the G-stop lines.......
The other stuff, pads and rotors I got from tirerack. They have some nice performance parts for the acura vigors. Last edited by beep : 09-28-07 at 02:53 AM. Reason: mistake |

As far as Rotors go, stock parts from Acura are pretty top quality. I've heard of rotors lasting over 150k miles, and pads easily 60k.
As for "performance" parts, can't go wrong with Brembo's. I'd prefer a softer brake pad material over something like Metallic, simply because replacing the front rotors, is not as easy as you may think. These cars, along with older Accords have pressed on bearings that hold the rotors in place. That's right, the bearings will need to come out as well. Often, these bearings are destroyed if it's not done right, and it'll cost you a few more hrs of labor, and a few hundred bucks more for parts. If you need more info on this subject, feel free to look it up at the acuravigorclub.com Shawn |

Thank you Shawn for the info. The car is at Goodies speed shop for the install tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes.
They tell me replacing 6 brake lines takes some time due to abs and I mentioned the bearings as you said and they are familiar with the rotor replacement on older acura/honda's. Will let you know how they do and how they brake system performs now. Brian |
