Car 1: 92 VIGOR
This car is smokin!

Literally. Well, not anymore.
So saturday morning was an eventful start to my day. Driving down the interstate at 70 mph like i usually do. all of the sudden my check engine light comes on... hmmm, thats odd. Thought, oh maybe an O2 or something. its still running fine i'll pull of and check when i get gas. About 4 seconds later, smoke starts coming through the vents. So this cant be good! throw on the hazards and start pulling over, go to step on the brakes only to find out the go right to the floor. Ruh roh! jack the ebrake and slam it in first and came to a screeching stop. Hard parts over. lets check the engine. So i pop the hood, bad idea. I had flames engulf my hands and face. (when i stopped all i saw was smoke, didnt see the fire). so i slammed the hood, grabbed a few things from my car and call 911. took 2 fire trucks to put it out.
Went to go look at it later, and everything that wasn't metal in the engine compartment was melted and gone. Melted the windshield, and parts of the dash and carpet by the shifter.

Im sure there is no useful information in here for anyone to read, lol. but i felt like telling it anway. anyone else ever hear of any vigors starting on fire like this?

needless to say the car is a total loss. if it wasn't burned, what was good was smoke damaged. so really the only thing i got out of the car was my new main relay. so if anyone needs a 2 month old relay, let me know. hahahah.

hope this doesnt happen to you guys! i know i never thought this would happen to me. im sure it was just some kind of fluke, but kinda makes you want to look things over more often.

take care,
Jeremy

I am really glad you got that thing stopped and got out of it.

Lucky.

Any idea at all where it started?

Car 1: 92 VIGOR
Thanks guys. Could have been a lot worse thats for sure! Not really sure what caused it or where it started. I have a good feeling it started in the back of the engine bay on the drivers side. I assume that because i lost breaks immediately. but thats just a guess. everything was so melted under there its hard to tell what happened. Could be possible that a fuel line cracked and sprayed fuel out and caught fire, could have been electrical. Not really sure.
But looking back, it was a rather interesting experience to say the least. lol.
now on to find a new ride. haha.
