Car 1: acura vigor 1992
car won't start, throwing CEL

i've just started experiencing some starting problems with my vig. about 2 weeks ago i went to the supermarket came out and car wouldnt start, at first i thought it was just the coolant temp sensor acting up like usual, but this time i waited an hour and it wouldnt start, so i got it towed home.

when i got home i replaced a few things(dizzy cap, plug wires, ignition coil, those were all due anyway) also i replaced the coolant temp sensor thinking that it would help, but that didnt, i checked the engine light code but its just one solid light, no flashes or anything, although the abs light does flash, the CEL light doesnt i even tried to reset the cel but it still stays on constantly. can anybody help me on this? its the only car i have and i dont bank enough to get a new car.

I had a friend who had a 93' and had a similar problem. It ended up being the ignition, where the key goes into.

I ended up getting a new ignition form Acura and installing it and done.

Not a hard install, hardest part was to dremel the 2 screws with no heads.

That's the only problem she had with the car.

I don't know if this is the problem, but it sounds like it may be. Worth a shot and easy enough to DIY.

My guess would be the ignition switch. Unless you are an experienced DIY'er I would leave this to the experts. It's a time-consuming task removing the steering wheel assembly to replace such a little part.
