yeah, there aren't many vigors left... well, I guess there weren't many to begin with. the Vigor had a decent run considering it ran a strange (for Honda) 5 cyl... but I actually still see quite a few on the road... and as old as it is, it's still a nice looker IMO.

good luck on your project... sounds like a fun one.

Great homepage....

i joined.... problem is I hate the yahoo group message board format...

shame the club dosent have there own actual phpbb or vbulletin forum like most forums site's

also to be quite honest the forums there are filled with alot of dribble.. I have found most of my usefull info to date here and on another forum...

I couldnt even find the answer to the relay question I asked here on there.

The actual acuravigorclub site is much better and should have its own board incorporated into the site. maybe its just cause the yahoo site isnt broken up into categories... Ill give it a shot again..

Hey BandT,

Love your enthusiasm, just don't foist your expectations on me...

I've owned mine ('94 GS auto) for almost 2 years, and have owned 3 Accords ('83, '85 SE, '89 SE) before it and one Legend ('93 L, loved that car). The Vigor has by far been the worst w.r.t. reliability and maintenance. The engine leaks oil, the Hondas and Accords never did. I've done brake work, multiple front end work, water pump, etc. And the contacts for the security system door locks are gone, radio lights are out, my wife hates the fact there is no cup holder, yada yada. That said, it looks great (black and tan, like yours), but I'm anxiously looking forward to getting rid of it in the Spring. Too many issues.

But enjoy yours to the fullest!

I have heard the automatics have problems...

I got mine for 800.00.... its a 5 speed though, So far im happy, I can tell that this car will require maintenece however this car I actually am able to work on , when it comes to my dodge intrepid though, I am lost.... impossible to work on and there is no real fixing them when things go really wrong with the motor.

Comparably a vigor engine can be repaired alot of the time, and if all else fails engines are easily had for 450.00 - 650.00.... If yer handy installing it yourself can be done with help, and if not you probably can have it done for a grand total of 1500.00... comparably my intrepid will cost me 3500 easily when the engine goes.... it has already gone once....... im on a second motor in under 200k

I know my 800 bucks is well spent on my vigor, this car will likely out live my 2001 intrepid with equal miles on both 170k.... My first import, im very happy and willing to restore this beut rather then dump anymore money into a crappy neo american vehicle....

just my opinion, im in love with my vigor....

Vigs require periodic maintenance. If the previous owner took lousy care of the maintenance, the car can be a nightmare. If the car was well maintained... heck, I know a guy who has over 350K miles on his.

As you've already seen, if you don't change the PCV valve, the crankcase pressures can build up and blow out the distributor O-rings and /or oil cooler seal. This could have been avoided!

OTOH, you're right on about the DSP stereo lights, the security system contacts on the door lock actuator, etc.

Smile Acura Vigors are awesome

I bought my Vigor at an auction and have fully enjoyed the speed and grace of this rare and great car. If I had only known that this would be as much fun to drive as my old 68 440 magnum Charger, but much more graceful to drive, maybe i would have bought one sooner.

Currently I am looking at restoring my Vigor and I am finding it almost impossible in my area to find any good information on it. Even the local Acura dealer has nothing as they have only ever seen a few of these cars.

Any help in trying to get the parts and prices needed to do a proper restore of this car would be great.

My car is the CC3 version from 92. It is extremely rare, however due to a small issue with the dealer, the previous owner was given replacement headlights off of an CC2 model. The CC2 had the separated Headlights and the CC3 Inspire edition that was JDM had the one piece. After doing some digging I found that my car is a CC3 and had the one piece headlights. I would really like to restore it back correctly.

Other than most mechanics look at it and say that it can't be an Acura, I love this car and will most likely never part with it.

You guys can't expect to have the bragging rights of a rare car, and think the parts are readily available, do you?

Just take care of your ride, and find the parts slowly, the Vigor can't be rushed, unless it's on the highway =)

LMAO! The Vig really is a cult car, isn't it! People who understand Vigors love them fanatically! Everyone else wonders what all the fuss is about.

It's a bit difficult, and can be expensive to find parts, but with the yahoo vigor group, it's actually pretty easy to fix/find most anything. I kinda wish the group would move to this forum or similar. It's easier to read the threads and you can post pictures and stuff. They're kinda stubborn, but once again the yahoo group it great. I think the group would be twice as good and usable on a forum like this though.

Most of them already know about this forum and prefer the Yahoo! group. Some people are active on both forums (plus a few others).
