Seat replacement question
My leather drivers seat is a bit worn and has a good tear in it after 192,000 miles. I've found many clean passenger seats in junk yards but no good driver seats. Any one think I can just bolt up the seat back from a passenger seat on to the drivers seat I have and swap out the bottom cushion, leaving the original power seat function and tracks in place? Can't tell if where the seat back bolts up is symetrical or not...without actually pulling it all apart. Thanks for any help.

Hmmm. Not sure. You'd lose the lumbar adjustment, that's for sure. Otherwise, it just might work!
How much is the passenger seat? The reason I ask is, I had my driver's seatback repaired a few years ago. It was "around" $250 and it's impossible to see where it was repaired. But your approach might be less expensive. |

Yes you can repair it check www.leathermagic.com they make a very good product. Be sureto look at the before and after photps, I'm a believer.

A decent auto/marine upholstery shop should be able to match the leather. Then, they remove the seat cover, unstitch the bad panels of leather, use them as patterns (templates) to cut new pieces, sew in the new pieces, and reinstall the seatcover. It takes about two or three weeks for the new panels to "break in" and look original. After that, you can't tell the seat had been repaired. The key is to make sure you get a perfect match up front, before they begin. If the color or texture of the replacement hide is off just a little bit, the repair will always be noticeable -- even if it's only noticeable to you. |

Not sure about that. What I've known is with Jeep seat covers. My dad has just replaced his a month ago.
