Car 1: 1994 Vigor GS Manual
Car 2: 1997 RL
Syncros going?...use heavier oil?

'94 Vigor with 191k on it, "crunches" gears if I shift from first to second fast. If I shift slower and easier it goes in without making a noise...nice and smooth. Does anyone think the syncros on 2nd gear are going?....or could it be a different problem? I know the manual states 10w30 for trans fluid...is that just regular motor oil. This car is pretty new to me and I've never had a manual trans car that used just regular motor oil. Does anyone think going to a heavier weight oil like 15w30 would help out the syncro/shifting noise issue? Thanks.
