Vigor Druids Please Help !!!! Spooky Problems
I had the CV axles and a few other front end goodies( sway bar bushings, rack boots, etc) installed on my 93 Acura Vigor 2 days ago. The mechanic, (who I kinda want to trust) got done, backed out and drove it, after coming back he said something was "sounding funny".
He took one of the new CV axles out and replaced it with the older one after realizing that it may not be the right axle (?) When they went to check that one....it wouldn't go in reverse. Drive worked, park worked, but no reverse. He started talking about sensors going bad and I told him Horsesh*% that they did something when they put in the wrong axle. He said that it couldn't be transmission or else the entire transmission wouldn't work 1. Is he right in his transmission theory? 2. Do I have reason to believe that the work they did caused this problem? ( I sure as hell think so) 3. Does the security system disable reverse if triggered? (stupid I know but I'm running out of options) 4. Has anyone ever heard of or had this problem? we checked all the fuses and relays and they are stumped. I'm assuming the sensors would give me an error light if they went out. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated thanks B |

Never heard of this problem, but you definitely should make the repair shop fix it. Reverse worked before, then the repair shop worked on your car, now reverse doesn't work. I'd go after them.

This is troubling indeed.
There's more and more cases of where R does not work on Vigors. I suppose that if they used the wrong axle, it would have forced the differential and put stress on the gears. This stress will translate into the transmission housing and may cause the transmission failure. Too many times have I seen Vigor's being mis-handled by incompetent mechanics. Go after them and have them replace the transmission. There are no sensors that would disable the R. There is no security system that would do the same. Sounds coming from the drive indicate parts rubbing and extreme stress. Shawn |
