2009 Acura TL shows its face, AWD confirmed
Filed under: Sedans/Saloons, Acura
![]() Click above image to enlarge var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/2009_Acura_TL_shows_its_face'; The 2009 Acura TL is coming this fall, and Acura has released the first official image of the car. Acura's love-it-or-hate-it new shield-grille face is affixed to the front end of the new sedan, which also sports thin, slanted headlamps and a pair of angular lower intakes. A pronounced accent line sweeps down from back to front, where it leads directly into a very pronounced wheel arch. Looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to see the car's posterior. Two TL flavors will be offered, confirming the preview report that we ran back in April. Honda doesn't announce powertrain specifics other than to confirm that the new TL will be available with Acura's SH-AWD system and also offer the marque's "most powerful engine ever." We assume that to mean the 300-horsepower 3.7L engine used in the RL and MDX will also be making an appearance in the TL. Based on what we were told back in April, look for a 280-horsepower 3.5L to serve as the base engine in the FWD car. So, now that you've had your first look at the new TL, tell us what you think. Still can't see how it looks like for rear tail light. But the front would of been a lot better without the new front grille...oh man...I hate to say this but it really kind of made it look worse. The bright side is, it wasn't as bad as I thought is gonna be.
I was kind of hoping that they will make the front look like the thinner version of the current MDX front light and grille design. Now that would of been a lot better looking. I won't be surprise if MDX become the next best selling acura model cuz I do see a lot more new MDX hitting the street than the Lexus RX lately. Overall is still not bad, but it doens't give me a WOW or blow me away when I see it. |

Those concept pictures look really nice. Maybe we'll see something like that one day. That front and rear would definitely be toned down, however...
