That left margin block is totally useless. If we have to have that, how about reducing the size to about 50% of the current size?

There is no way to reduce the width of the block as it must be as wide as the widest block - 160 pixels wide.

I'm looking for a way to allow users to select wether the block shows up or not at this time.

I don't like to new format. I find I have to now scroll down to see anything after ever link I click.

I go to the front page, I have to scroll down to get to links.
I open a discussion thread, I have to scroll down to see the actual discussion.

Did I lose some browser configurations, or is this they way it is for everyone?

if you click the arrow next to the unread thread name it will take you to the first unread post so you don't have to scroll down
