I don't disagree that he had another good season or more, but it is a sign of class that he go out on top of his game after a excellent season.

Yes, Kev, I know what a Bears fan you are.

But, you have to agree that this is a class move on Farve's part.

Well the article said he retired because the Packer's wouldn't go after Randy Moss... so I call him a crybaby.

In all honesty, I think Favre was one of the greatest and classiest players in football, but I am happy he won't be kicking my teams ass anymore.

with dave. it's always best to retire when your still on top of your game.

example: michael jordan, he sorta ruined it when he decided to come back in the NBA with the wizards.

+1. Regardless of how old he is, Favre is still a great QB, but in the words of the immortal Def Leppard, "It's better to burn out than fade away."

lol i thought grossman was the bears slayer. and im pretty sure the bears lost more games than they won last year. its gonna take a lot more than Favre retiring to have them win.

one part of me is sad, because he was my fav nfl player ever, the other is stoked because i have his Autographed jersey!

Could be, the one I was talking about was in the beginning of "Rock of Ages" on this record:

You guys aren't old enough to remember some players who were awesome. e.g., Earl Campbell (sp?) who set rushing records in short seasons (12 game seasons?) that took many years to beat even when the season added more games. One year, he played half the season with a broken arm (kept it a secret). Walter Payton. Stutter-step himself. Gave his linemen Rolex watches every year for making the holes for him. THAT's class! And, among the unsung heroes, Kellen Winslow for the Chargers. 6'5" 250 lb TE. Awesome receiving and play-running TE. Most memorable moment? When he went into double overtime (6 innings) in the mid 80's. Worn out, injured, and having played nearly the entire game. That dude was awesome!

Yeah, there are many more but...just a quick few that I remember.

We have "Vault" from DL. DL definitely awesome rock!

Typed this in for search:

"It's better to burn out than fade away." queen highlander

Gets enough hits to gain some sort of credit.

Then:

"It's better to burn out than fade away." def leppard

PAGES of hits! Not sure who did it first but the biggest hits are on DL, so, I to your expertise!
