Nice, Clap. The images seem to be crisp, and the colors are nice....did you process them at all?

I need to make a trip to a big city sometime just for some photography. Nicely done Clap!

Make sure you're shooting in the raw format for your camera and adjust the white balance to meet the condition the picture was taken in (sunlight, shadow, etc). It looks pretty nice but I'm betting you were shooting in .jpg format, where the camera probably tried to guess the correct white balance setting. Most are pretty good about nailing white balance in direct sunlight, but when you get into lower light or flash conditions you'll want to manually set it when you process it. Since a .jpg is a pre-processed image, you can't do the white balance without changing the picture, whereas in a raw pic you can adjust white balance without it being lossy.

Thanks a lot for the tips... I was actually shooting in raw, but I didn't play with the White Balance, I was checking more the contrast and the exposure. I will check this later

BTW Citrusgirl - those are some great night pics. Were you using a tripod?

Oh and Clap - I'm gonna have to be contrary to what Sky said earlier. Often times, it's better for a noob (no offense, I was one too...still kinda am =D) to shoot JPEGs until you get the handle on all the post-processing actions. Also, shooting JPEGs gives you better results straight out of the camera (less work for you) and takes up much less space. The main advantage of RAW is better recoverability in case you screw up the exposure/WB badly. So for important shots I do RAW+JPEG.

Nice pics Julia

I will check the RAW+JPG then... I will still try to get a hold of the processing.

For the fast glass I will have to wait a bit... first I need a case to carry the camera, a tripod... and maybe a polarizing filter... then the fastest "affordable" lens Sony has is a 50mm 1.4 and it cost around 350€... so I cannot pay that now

Thank you guys for your comments.
