3 Car seats for kids in TL. Any experience or advice?

Hi. I just joined the forum. I am at a crossroads with cars. We have 2 children and are having a third in march 2013. The first two were born in 9/09 and 10/10 so they are 3 years 3 months and 2 years 2 months as of this writing. When the third kid comes, they will be 3 to 4 months older.

My TSX has been fine for 2 kids. 3 won't work. I want a TL to work so I can get AWD, have a little more room, stay with Acura and stay in a sedan (as opposed to an SUV). I checked out the MDX. Nice. Very nice ride but I'd really like to stay in a car if I can.

Any experience fitting 2 toddler forward facing seats and one infant rear facing seat in a TL? Please tell me your set up in terms of brands and models and experience with it. Thank you!

It'll be hard to say. Are you using a convertable seat for the rear facing or one of those baby carrier systems (like the Eddie Bauer/Safety 21 that I have for my kid)?

Honestly, in terms of size of the back seat, your best bet would probably be to go down to the dealer and try fitting all 3 seats side by side. When I was shopping for a Pilot to replace my wife's Civic, the dealer was more than willing to accommodate me in test fitting the seat in the car.

So, I really can't say on 3 seats (since I only have 1 kid), but if anything, I would probably put the 2 bigger kids in the forward facing seats on the outside and the rearward seat in the middle (or how I've dubbed the "bitch" seat).

Im in a similar situation but likely around six months ahead of you. We had a wrx hatchback and traded in for an 2010 mdx as we were expecting a third child (other kids are 3.5 and 1.5). Now having a third child and trying to fit three car seats in second row I regret not getting a tl instead. The MDX 3rd row is absolutely useless for car seats as the kids feet will be pressed against the 2nd row back of seat. The 2nd row does not slide forward or back. If you put two car seats in 2nd row the 3rd row becomes inaccessible as the 2nd seat blocks access to 3rd row.

Was barely able to fit 3 car seats in the 2nd row. Im going to trade the MDX in for a 2010 tl awd 6-speed and buy some slimmer car seat.

THe MDX drives like an SUV that it is, and also comes with all the percs of having an SUV such as huge gas consumption (14.1 avg), mushy ride, auto tranny. It just sucks and I cant wait to get rid of it. Go over an uneven bump at slow speed and you also get whip lash from the side motion.

Hope it helps
