Weird smell in cabin? Gunpowder?

Ever since we picked up our new TL 2 weeks ago there has been an odor in the cabin that smells like spent firecrackers?

Ok, I know that's weird, but my Son identified the smell after I first noticed it.

And he's right! That's exactly what it smells like.

What the heck can that be?

No smokers in car!

I have it at the dealer today, and boy, did I get a strange look when I told them about it!

Possibility of having had an airbag go off?

Maybe one of the airbags had previously deployed?

Never thought of that!

Modern cars maintain a log when things "go wrong" - airbag going off might be in that log: I'm sure the Acura dealer can read the log. Best guess!

I just purchased a new TL Saturday and noticed a similar smell when I arrived home and parked in the garage. The smell wasnt that strong and I smelled more in the garage more than I did while inside the vehicle. I havent really smelled it since I first arrived home on Saturday.
I thought it kinda smelled like hot metal, but now that you mention it, I can see where it kinda smelled like like spent gunpowder. I thought the smell was most likely light amounts of oil left on some of the engine/exhaust/brake/wheel components from the manufacturing process that got hot and 'burned off' during my 2 hour drive home.
Like I said earlier, I havent smelled it again, so I'm guessing that's what it was.
Do you think the smell is becoming more faint???
