SO.... very angry to say the least, my cars transmission finally went, I knew the day was coming and tried to get the work done before the "warranty" ran out but unfortunately the transmission was fine until now! Its doing exactly what was mentioned in this thread, slipping in 3rd gear! So called my local Acura dealer (Boulder, CO Flatiron Acura) and asked if I would still be under warranty at 95,000k, he explained that the warranty covered only for 8 years from purchase which my CL-S is 2001 and puts me out of warranty regardless of the fact that I am under 100,000. So long story short I got a quote of 4500-5500 for new transmission guaranteed fix. So my question is what to do?? Got a local shop taking a look at it to see if it is a simple fix or not but I fear the worst because driving it was terrible experience (in third Gear). Suggestions please??? I have considered doing what I have always wanted to do and put in the 6 speed! HATE AUTOMATICS! but dont know what costs would be. Thanks for listening

Find one at your local salvage yard, a lot cheaper than 45-5500. And the price mention is a dealer's quote I assume, Your local shop should be quoting you about 1/3-1/2 of that price.
