2003 acura nsx hid conversion - headlight question
mildly new to this board -- so here's the big question, does a high intensity conversion on our "older" NSXs cause any kind of melt down or wiring issues. i picked up my conversion from neverburnout for those who are wondering. i'm near paranoid on this, but with high intensity discharge, you have to be cautious. and they told me it woudln't be a problem, but i'm definitely hesitant post purchase.
will buying a philips kit be a big difference? it's okay for me to spend a bit more. |

I can't say for sure if you'll have any problems with the ones from that site, since I'm not familiar with it. However, many owners of "pop-up" headlight NSXs have successfully done HID conversions with little if any problems. Perhaps the only issue you might have is routing the wires through the cap in the back of the headlight housing, but it's pretty trivial.
I personally have a 4300 McColloch (sp) set that I've had for about 4+ years that has worked fine. I've never heard of anyone having any melting or wiring problems.

I just saw your thread title referencing "2003". You're now confusing me. Do you have a 2003 NSX? Those come with HIDs as standard equipment.

hid actually require less amps when runnign compared to a halogen, only thing u have to watch out for is the startup drawing amps for the hid kit..phillips/mculloh/piaa/bosch are pretty presistent with the 8.5 initial drawing amperage....the only thing that would cause melting of the wires is the knock off kits that dont have a respondent circuit with overload protection which in turn causes more current needed to be drawn as the ballast ages. Therefore check with the intial startup amp and ask what kind of protection circuit is in the kit. that would be pretty much the only reason why it would melt stock harness.....
