what is this gonna be for?

IMO out of the box, you will probably get more satisaction from the NSX (mainly better quality and stock handling performance)... but there is a lot of stuff out there for the Supra... so if you are thinking about some go fast mods, the Supra is a good car to play with.

If you can afford it, I would get the six speed NSX... this automatically limits your choices to fairly newer ones and you get a targa top

All out speed get the Supra. Very few can match it in straight line performance for minimal investment. Otherwise I think NSX is a good choice for everything else.

As noted in the above posts, it would be best to identify your needs. Obviously, ChrisK and myself would be a little biased. But at the same time, if your objectives are different (i.e. mondo HP numbers, excellent acceleration), you may choose otherwise.

Even so, when I briefly toyed with the idea of getting a used TT Supra, I found my options somewhat limited. I wasn't finding too many low mileage (non-beat-to-crap) examples.

Funny you should mention beat up Supra TTs. I have heard from some owners that the best route to go is to buy a Supra TT with a blown motor since it will sell for a much lower price. Then rebuild the motor to what you want. It appears that most of the motors are run hard and you never know what you are getting so often you need a rebuild anyway. I had thought about a Supra TT myself since knowing the potential HP is aways intriguing, but when I really thought about it I could never run even a stock Supra or NSX to its max potential on our local roads or even tracks so there was no point other than paper data bragging rights. I could build a 600HP Supra but I can barely take it up to 100MPH. In the end I obvisouly am more than happy with my stock NSX in which I'm focusing more on aesthetics vs HP. Say what you want about the NSX. It's too slow, it's too old and outdated, but in reality only those critics that know about the NSX say those things. Day in and day out I still get normal everyday people thinking the NSX is some brand new model from Acura or it's a Ferrari, or something. Most people don't realize it is a decade old car but think it is something new. Obviously that makes a case for its timeless looks.
