What's the best power adder for the money? I don't want to (can't) drop $8G for a Comptech supercharger. I have a 91 NSX with Comptech headers (stock muffler still). The headers are the ONLY aftermarket part on the car. I drive VERY conservatively, so I was thionking of just nitrous so I could open it up at the dragstrip a couple times a year. That's really all I need the extra power for.
Think NO2 would be a good way to go for me? I was thinking it would be under a grand to set up and I'd only need to fill the bottle once every two years or so. If that's a decent route for the NSX, what's a good NO2 system to go with and how much HP should I set up for? What other mods will I need to run it safely? Any other cost effective mods that would really be worth it on these cars? Thanks! |

Nitrous is probably by par the best bang for the buck. The BBSC is a little cheaper than the Comptech unit. Or, you can try this product from Science of Speed (Official price and release not yet available).
![]() Here is a quote from Chris at Science of Speed. It appears their system could be a good choice at a reasonable price. This quote was taken from a topic in NSX Prime. Quote:

A lot of it depends on why you would want to add power and speed to you NSX. Do you want to be faster on a roadcourse? Do you want to be faster at the drag strip? Do you want a high speed "autobahn" runner? Do you want to street race? (<-Which I do NOT condone in any way.)
NSX headers tend to cost around $1500, and only add about 15 - 20 HP. Exhaust systems add only a few HP more (and almost very little with no headers installed) and cost about another $1000. Transmission work (gears, clutch, R&P) costs up to $3000-$4000 and only knocks off a few tenths of a sec in a 0-60MPH time and cuts about 10MPH off of top speed. Add those three up and you're spending almost as much a a CT SC. Therefore, when it comes to bang for the buck, nitrous would be your best solution, IF your primary outlet for such an increase is the drag strip. Most of the NSXers that I know that have had a nitrous system had it as a supplement to other already installed go-fast parts. Keep in mind, the NSX was never intended to be a drag/quarter mile car. Most performance increases tend to exploit the NSXs prowess on a road course. As such, I would highly recommend spending any $$$$ on a performance driving school and track time to make YOU and your NSX faster. Nitrous isn't suited well for a full day of track driving. From the sound of it, nitrous is probably the direction for you.

And yes, the ONLY place I'd really want more power is the drag strip. I don't street race and don't plan on it. Just want to go to the strip a couple times a year and want a faster car. If I can beat C5 Vettes, I'd be happy. I don't plan on running my car hard except for probably 5-10 passes a year. That's it. So, any advice on which nitrous kit to buy? Wet or dry? How much power can I run one at without causing problems? I've ran NO2 before on a non-computer controlled carbuerated Chevy small block. I ran a 150 shot power plate. Simple and it worked great. But I'm not familiar at all with what's needed for a kit for an NSX. Get me up to speed here so I can go order what I need and get this going. I'd also like a really slim bottle if possible. Something that won't take up much space. I don't want to sacrifice a quarter of my trunk space for a bottle what won't be used very often. Thanks! |

On nitrous advice, sorry, I couldn't help you. I'm not familiar with systems set up specifically for the NSX. It's a route that I've never bothered to explore.
