First Drive: 2003 Acura NSX

Story and photos by Laurance Yap

Acura sold just a handful of NSXs last year - a literal handful. Only five examples of one of the coolest-looking, wonderful-driving cars on the road today. Five copies of the car that, when it was first introduced, put the fright into Ferrari and Porsche. Five copies of a car that, when he started to design the McLaren F1, Gordon Murray used as the benchmark for shifter feel. The car that, more than ten years on from its introduction, is still one of the closest things you can get to driving an F1 car on the road. Without actually driving an F1 car on the road.

Thanks for posting that! Talk about a loooooooong exposure on those pix! They came out well though.

One comment, he mentions how if it was marketed by Honda, it might have appealed more to racers because of the current awareness of modding Honda's......outside the US and Canada, it IS called the Honda NSX.

The 5 examples sold must be a Canadian sales number. They sold a lot more than 5 total in the United States. Still slow sales figures though.

True, and I personally agree with their statemenet. I for one have converted all my Acura emblems and badges to Honda ones including the air bag. After owning 5 Acuras (1 Integra, 3 Legend Coupes, and 1 NSX) I grew tired of Acura pushing the "Acura" name and doing away with the Integra/Legend/Vigor names. I respect the Honda heritage more than the simple Acura marketing name. But, that is just me
