how many NSX gens are there, anyway?

It's been the coolest daily driver on the road for as long as I can remember, but then again, I'm a youngun'.

Seriously, though, how many different iterations have there been? And what did the first ones look like - I don't remember that much detail!

Car 1: 1995 NSX-T
Car 2: 1999 3.2TL
Car 3: 2006 Scion xB
Depends on how you might want to look at it. There were some changes along the way, but nothing I would consider big enough to warrant a designation for a new generation.

(This info pertains to U.S. models.)

You have had several models available: a coupe (1991 - present), a targa version (1995 - present), and the Zanardi edition (1999).

Some important model years with changes that the casual fan may or may not notice:

1991 Introduction; engine code C30A; 270HP 3.0L; all coupes; 15/16 inch 5 spoke wheels; chassis code NA1
1994 Wheels are 16/17 inch 7 spoke setup
1995 Targa top model introduced; color matched roof becomes standard; exhaust tips no longer squashed oval shape
1997 Larger 290HP 3.2L engine; code C32B; 6-speed; chassis code NA2
1999 Zanardi edition is available
2000 Perforated leather interior
2002 Updated look (new front end with fixed headlights, change to rear valence area and tailights, 17/17 inch redesigned 7 spoke wheels)

Yes, I know the car began it's design in the late 80s. Yeah, it could use more power. But look at the above. Very little changed. And maybe that's 'cuz Honda got it so right the first time. There's just something sweet and pure about the car. Believe me, if you drove one AND owned one, you'd understand.

I agree, some people insist on calling the NSX outdate, or has an dated design, however, those are only people who don't own one and are familiar with the NSX since its instruduction in North American as a 1991 model. All the time owners are asked What type of car is that? and most people think it is a brand new car. If the majority of people who don't really know anything about the NSX other than what their eyes are just seeing that second think it is a brand new car, than the design can hardly be oudated.

Anyway, the minute you drive one, 99% of the time you will be a believer.
