NSX Door Locks
I've noticed on my 1997 NSX that if I lock my doors using the interior power lock switch that I can only open the door with the key. The remote device will not unlock the doors.
Of course, if I use the remote to lock the doors, it will also unlock them. Does anyone know why this occurs? Was it some additional security measure? Thanks, - Russ in Santa Barbara |

Hmm, that does sound peculiar. I have a 95, and it didn't come with a keyless entry feature, so I'm afraid I can't offer anything from experience.

When you try and unlock the door with the remote, are you pressing the button only once or trying multiple times? Just curious. Anyway, that is not normal unless the changed something. However, the keyless entry system is not really smart. It does not know if the door was locked or unlocked. It simply toggles back and forth. Therefore, if you unlocked the door with the remote, then locked the door with the lock tab, then tried to unlock the door again with the remote it will not unlock but actually try and lock the doors since the last time you used the remote it unlocked. If you now hit the button again, it will unlock. Anyway, give that a try. The keyless system on the early mid 90s (NSX included) is very dumb in a way.

Checked again, you're correct
I could have sworn that I tried multiple times to get my NSX doors to unlock with the remote after locking it with the interior power lock and the doors didn't unlock.
I just tried it again and was able to unlock them by pushing the remote twice -- after locking them with the interior switch. Thanks for the tip. - Russ |
