2002 Rsx with 70,000 miles, should I buy?

Hey. I am supposed to pick this car up today, 02 Rsk with 70,000 miles, but I am worried that it has too many miles on it or if I should get a warranty or not. The warranty that they have is $2300 and its only for 24,000 miles or 24 months. The price I offered is $11,500 on the car.

Is this a good deal, should I be worried about the mileage?

for sure. BUT, IMO, $2,300 for a 2 yr warranty seems a bit steep.

BTW,

ok, thanks. I have talked to a lot of people who have acuras at like 190,000 miles without major issues. I had a civic before and I bought it at 60,000 miles with no problmes when I totaled it at 115,000 but I was just leary of this car since i had not hear a lot about them. Thanks though!

a 6 year old car with only 70k... sounds good to me. $11k seems fair, though, i'd pass on the warranty. is it a base or a type s?

People need to realize that these engines arn't made by the big detroit 3 of yester-year where 60K rebuilds were a norm. I have a base model RSX that did 100K of racing miles without any major breakdowns or rebuilds on a facorty engine. On a norm, race car engines are usually broken down and rebuilt every 10-15K miles. So, with that said, you'll be able to get well over 200+K miles for street use with maintnance.

to what Dean said!

My son's Integra has over 200K miles and is running strong on its third timing belt. No oil use and no coolant loss whatsoever.

A 2002 with 70k is great, its below standard industry of mileage. My family has owned Honda's for decades because they make engines that will last more than 200k miles without any major breakdowns.

If you manage to get your hands on it, congrats. I just got one last week and I am loving every minute of it.

get the car. i'd say that sounds like a great deal. i just passed 80k miles on my 2005 rsx-s. no problems, yet. only replaced the battery a couple of times because, i don't check the battery and i have a sound system.

with dean. Honda/Acura's are built to last more than 200k miles.

Good buy

I just bought an Automatic Silver 2002 Base RSX with black leather and sunroof with 120K for $6,000. The car is clean and runs perfect. It even came with a Pioneer Head Unit w/ Ipod power connector! I love this car and the gas milage is great.
I bought this car as my daily driver with plans to give it to my son when he turns 16 in a year and half. I drive an 05 Mustang GT Convertible with a Saleen Supercharger (477 rwhp 450 rwtd). It gets about 11 mpg with me taking it easy. I have enjoyed driving this RSX so much that I have not even started my Mustang since I got it 3 weeks ago!

That is one thing that Honda does well. While not exactly making a car with a lot of neck snapping torque and monstrous power, they can still make the car with a very high fun-to-drive factor.
