buying 2002 type s- Salvage title
I know many will advise against buying a car with a salvage title, however it seems to be a fantastic deal... The car was stolen and given a salvage title and has been in no major accidents. before buying the car I will take it to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and have it looked.
I can get the car for $ 8200. Do you guys think this is a good deal? |

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I'm only against salvage titles when there's engine/frame/flood damage.

to acuraworld with kev, i would say no if it was involved in a major accident. in this case, it was stolen. i would recommend upgrading the security system. ![]()

I have nothing against theft salvage vehicles. Hell, I have no problems with accident salvage vehicles for race use. All just as long as damages were repaired well. Just note that if anything goes wrong (even if its something that would be technically a warranty issue), its coming out of your pocket to get fixed.

First of all, let me say "pics of your mustang now!"
![]() Secondly, the standard upgrade path is Intake, Header, Exhaust, tires, suspension, ecu, and if you're still looking for more then turbo/supercharger. Definitely start with intake, you will notice improved power right away. The RSX doesn't respond that well to exhaust by itself, so if you get exhaust best to install a header (either shorty, shorty with high flow cat, or race header) when you install your exhaust. The next big power upgrade from there is either an ECU reflash or a programable ECU.

I have experience with the Injen Cold Air Intake (CAI), highly recommend it. The only thing to be weary of is if you live somewhere that it rains a lot and big puddles form, because it can suck water into your engine if you submerge the filter and that will fuck your engine up. I had it happen on my first RSX to the tune of $6,500. It's a long story but I didn't do it, a dealership did it, I don't know how they did it. I never had any problems when I was driving.
Now with my new RSX I'm going to go with an Injen Short Ram Intake (SRI) because that eliminates the hydrolock problem. Not as much of a gain, but still noticeable. I just don't want to have to worry, plus I'm making more money now so I should be able to make up for the smaller hp increase.

I did some research and if you can beleive what you read, Injen (which comes with replacement washer bottle) is supposed to have the best gains. I use it on mine.
SOME people say the fit is pretty tight behind the tire and makes the bumper a bit snug underneath as the rubber/plastic pushes up against the filter. BTW, damn nice 'Stang!
