check engine lilght
2002 Acura RSX. Actually my sister-in-laws car. She said when she started it yesterday the check engine light came on. When starting, she said it was like she might have let go of the key right before it caught. So she cranked it up again and got her running when the light came on.
She drove it home (about an hour away) but was not sure if it ran different or not. It ran ok but she thought something didn't feel right although that might have been her mind playing games. I will look at it later today and wanted to know if there was a way to retrieve codes without a scan tool so I didn't have to take it to auozone or equiv. |

On my dodge I am able to do a key sequence for OBDII to get the codes and I think GM products you can jumper the connector and read the flashing to get the codes. I didn't know if that option existed on the Acura. If not I'll run it in to autozone. One thing I did notice is her oil is low. Just barely touching the dipstick....no oil press light illuminated. Is it possible low oil could have triggered this. Personally never heard of it but thought I would ask. |

Had the code checked and it was P0341 (Camshaft Positions Sensor Circuit). Had it cleared and so far so good and the car runs fine.
Ref my original post, when my sister in law let the key go before it fully started, the car kicked and sputtered for a little. When she restarted it that is when the light came on. Do you think in the moment of missing, it was enough to trigger the code? We'll monitor and it and see what happens. |

Looks like a one time thing. The ecu probably expecting the engine to start running and when it didn't, it threw the code (had it happen to me a few times, once when I spun out and didn't get into the clutch in time, the others were from the same exact thing that you stated.
