So i noticed my drivers side headlight aimed really high after i changed the bulb about 3 weeks ago. so i finally remember to fix it. i take the bulb out, look at it and everything seems to be ok. i go to put it back in and i stick the bulb in the housing and pull the metal spring clamp across the x clip to clip it in and there is no hook to attach it to. i get a flashlight and look in there and the hook has broken off. so my question is... can i buy the part that the low beam bulb goes into that has the hook attached, or are you forced to buy the entire headlight housing assembly?
for the time being i've put the bulb in, pulled the metal clip across (not hooked to anything) and put the rubber gasket back on. it's aimed properly now, but it's not secured. the only thing holding the bulb in is the gasket.
well crap. i just went over and searched CRSX. seems as if that piece is part of the entire headlight assembly and not sold seperately. so what i think i'll do is once i order the HID kit from retro-solutions, take off the assembly, install the HIDs, and then rig up something for the metal spring clip to hold on to. i'm not paying $300 for a new assembly when a $0.10 piece of plastic broke off
nah, it's not #4. that's the xclip that the bulb plugs into. what i'm looking for is after you put the xclip in the housing, the metal spring folds around the back side of the xclip and hooks onto a plastic piece that is part of the headlight housing. that plastic piece broke off. i'll try to get a picture when i can. it might be hard to get a decent picture without taking the housing off

Ohh, you're talking about this part right? Looks like a sanding/smoothing and plastic weld job to be done since it's part of the whole headlight like you said.
i have no idea where the piece that broke off is though, so it would be hard to plastic weld that back on there i think i'm just going to have to rig something up. surprisingly though, the rubber gasket to goes over the xclip and spring is holding the light in place and it's not bouncing a lot like i thought it would. so that's a plus

Yeah on my first rsx I fucked up the spring clip. The plasic was still good but the clip only went on one side so I bent it so it would hold it tight. It worked fine.
when i was installing my HIDs, i took the opportunity to rig up something to hold the spring clip since the plastic hook is broken. i got a metal coat hanger and cut a 4.5" section out of it. bring the spring clip across and then insert the coat hanger into the housing so that it holds the clip down. pictured below. hope this helps someone in the future
I had the same thing happen to me when putting in my 8500K bulbs. You should be able to put the clamp back in. It took me about 45 minutes to do but I finally did it.
