DIY - Function7 Engineering Rear Lower Control Arms

As stated in the title of the thread, I hope this would be helpful to anyone interested in getting rear LCA's installed on their RSEX.

I totally forgot to take a picture of the goods, but you'll eventually see them throughout this DIY.

Tools Needed:
  • Torque ratchet
  • 12mm 6-point socket (for lower tie bar)
  • 17mm 6-point socket
  • and the special 10-point socket

1- Lift the car up from the rear and drop it on jack stands from both sides.

2- These are pictures showing the 2 stock rear LCA's, notice the big fat 10-point bolts (6 total, special to Honda).
Passenger Side:

Driver Side:

3- Starting with the driver side, now we're going to need the jack, put a little piece of wood on it and slide the whole thing under the suspension as shown below:

4- Start by unbolting the 3 10-point bolts first which btw are very hard to get out (they're supposed to be torqued to 95 lb.ft), then go to the much easier 17mm 6-point bolt that connects the arm to the chassis. Here is the result:

5- Just a little comparison, admiring how much more awesome looking the Function7 engineering rear LCAs look and they weigh less as well.

6- The next step is to clean up the area where the new Function7 arms are going.

7- Then since unlike the stock arms, these arms are made out of 7075 aluminum, and the rest of the material is steel, we want to prepare the surface and the bolts with some Anti-Seize (to prevent corrosion in case of dissimilar metals in contact with each other).

8- The above picture shows I started by connecting the arm to the chassis first, but trust me that's not how you want to do it, because it is MUCH easier to align one hole than aligning 3 holes at the same time. The reason I'm saying this is because once the stock arm is uninstalled, your car looks like it's been in accident and the wheel/tire look crooked.
Anyhow, having said that, start by bolting the 3 10-point bolts (do not tighten all the way, then align the chassis hole, put the bot through, and tighten everything up. Here is the result:

9- Now you are ready to go to the passenger side arm, the same thing goes for the passenger side, note I took pictures of the easy way of doing it.

Stock arm taken out:

Three (3) 10-point bolts installed first w/ chassis hole aligned:

Close-up of the chassis hole aligned:

10- You almost finished, step back for a minute and admire your great looking hard work.

11- Drop the car and admire some more.

Enjoy and I hope you guys find this DIY helpful!

PS: Willie everything has been cleaned this time, even the exhaust got a little bit of stainless steel polish .

There is really nothing noticeable in how the car handles, maybe if I were to push it really hard, I'd be able to see a difference, but other than that, nothing. Except that they look cool . Also I didn't know if I mentioned it, but weigh about half of what the stock ones do.
I had found them for cheaper on another site (even after shipping).
