Car 1: Acura rsx
Question First Acura

So Im 17 and I have finally saved enough to buy myself a decent car. I had been looking at Jetta's for a while, but now I'm thinking they are probably too girly. I really like the rsx, but I just don't know much about them. I'm looking to buy some where in the 2002-2006 range, and it has to be automatic (sorry guys, but I'm just too lazy to shift). I would like to keep it under $15,000. Any information that could help a first time buyer would be much appreciated. How much should I expect to pay? What are the differences between years? How many miles is too many? What are the different color combinations for interior/exterior (I really like blue and dark grey exterior, but I would like a tan or light grey interior)? And why do I see so few metallic red ones? Thanks Guys!

Searching for New or Used Car is so challenging. You must consider your budget and also think whether it will suit your lifestyle. Whatever the car you are going to choose just be sure that it is in good condition and you are comfortable to use it. Searching for a car could be easy if you can see the photos and the features of it.

the rsx is built for spirited driving. if you want to get the most out of your car i would get a manual trans version. maybe the type s with the 6 speed. i think you would end up kicking yourself if you just got the auto.

I'v always had a manual, if your worried about destroying the tranny I would get a cheaper car first and learn on that.

If you got a Auto in the RSX you would regret it, actually if you buy and import in auto you would regret it..

As the others said, you might regret it if you don't get a Type S. But if auto you must, then get a base.

As far as price, under $15,000 should be easy. I have an 06 Type S that I only paid $13,500 for. It's a honda, it's going to last forever. Anything over 250,000 miles I probably wouldn't buy

The body styles differ between the 02-04 and the 05-06.

There are many color combinations, more than I care to list at the moment. If you tell me what color you want on teh inside I can tell you what the interior color is. Though there is no gray interior, it's black or tan for leather. I think the base cloth might be gray though? (dean?)

As far as why you don't see many red ones, well personally I would say because of the tan interior...

True, I guess it depends on what you want out of the car, also depends on the car. Personally, I would choose a manual over an auto, but I just like the control over the shifting...

I thought the RSX auto's had manual mode, no? Anyways, if I had to choose a car with an auto, I'd choose a different car like the TSX or TL. You would want to have full potential of the RSX's power if you want to do some spirited driving.

hmm

Well, I'm still fairly confident I want an automatic... and I love the blue. Problem is it's pretty hot where I live so a black interior would kill me. I was hoping I could find blue with either grey/tan, I would prefer leather but I like the 05-06 cloth too. Thought of a seperate question as well, are there any common problems with this car? Again, Thanks guys!

I pd $18k for my 05 type S. Gesus. Worth every penny though. The type S is not easy to find in my area. I drove an automatic for a long time and love driving manual now. I don't mind the black leather either. Good luck with whatever you choose.

The Vivid Blue Pearl comes with a black interior... just tint your windows black like mine, no problem with hot leather at all!

indecision...boring!

sounds like a good idea, but isn't black tint with a young driver kinda a cop magnet? And can I get the newer model with black cloth?

Yep, the 05-06 VBP base has the option of black cloth. Here's one for example:
Cars.com: 2005 Acura RSX

As far as tint goes... depends on your state laws. It's illegal here, but I have it, I've never been stopped for it

So the auto's do come with manual shifting. In that case, wait for the one you like and go for it.
