Goodridge Brake Lines and Motul RBF600 Review

Now, after waiting about 1.5 months, I finally got my brake lines from Goodridge. Goodridge now makes their lines built to order, and is more on a per-job basis (thus the long wait). The build quality is exceptional, and comes with all the hardware you need such as new bajo bolts, c-clips, crush wasers, etc. The stainless steel braiding is much more tighter then the ones made by Russle and everything looks like it would hold up much better as well. The lines are made w/ extra length which gives it a little slack; this is good for you, espicaly for you base guys w/ Type S brake swap. Peddle feel is firmer, but probably would feel better if the vehicle was equiped w/o ABS. Hydrolic pressure to the caliper has increase by ways of not allowing the hose to expand and making most use of what volume you have to the calipers.

The Motul RBF600 DOT4 brake fluid went in at the same time as the brake lines. There is a large viscosity diffrence between the Motul oil and the Valvoline stuff I was using previously. I have not been able to drive the brakes hard enough yet to really reach any tempatures to promote fade from either pads or brake fluid, so a more in depth review will be posted after the next time I hit Willow Spings

I had goodridge lines on my Accord... and having only the "spongy" OEM lines to compare them with, I can't say they were better than other steel lines; however, they felt rock solid compared to the stock... I just used some store bought DOT4 fluid, so I can't tell much there either...

the after, tho, was like night and day... I honestly can't say that the actual braking (stopping distance) improved at all, but the feel was amazing... I would recommend the swap.

Great review, but I would debate the hydraulic pressure increase... although I will conceed that the calipers will get full pressure faster than the stock, the total max pressure is most likely the same since at some point during the braking the "spongy" stock lines will stop expanding. That's from what I figure, I can't see any mechanical reason why there would be more pressure, by just changing the lines.

Oh course, you know I'm not talking about max pressure, but it really took away a lot of the flex the stock lines had. Braking feel is awesome and just inspires confidence.Max pressure out of the master cylender and booster if of course a set amount and you can't go over unless you wanna blow something up, but really, how often are you 100% on the brakes? Even on track days, I'm rarely at 100% w/ the brakes, but as far as effective hydrolic pressure on the caliper piston, that has increased per peddle travle due to the non-expansion of the Goodridge lines.
