high mount brake light

I'm sorry if this question or problem has been posted already but I just don't have the time to search through topics/threads/forums so here goes... All rear lights except the high mount brake light work when I switch the lights on. So I thought a busted high mount brake light would be the reason why the brake lights that do work do not become brighter when I step on the brakes. I replaced the high mount brake light and no luck. Besides a blown fuse, what else could be the culprit? Thanks so much.

Yeah, that's about the only other possibility.

Same exact thing is wrong with mine.. It is weird because they weren't working about 4-5 months ago and then started working, but they stopped working again about a month ago.. So it probably has to be a loose connection or something.. Anyone have a diagram or link to show where the fuses/connections are?

there are 2 fuse boxes, one under the dashboard and the second one under the hood next to the battery.

there should be a diagram or something under the cover of the fuse box.

I may not be deciphering the names/symbols on either of the 2 fuse boxes but I can't seem to find the fuse that's dedicated to the high mount tail light. Is there one? Or should I just check and possibly replace all the fuses associated with the brake lights? Thanks.

I think it's time to bring in my car to the dealership to have the professionals take a look at the problem. I've already checked all fuses that I know of (under the hood and under the driver's side dashboard) and they're all good. No blown fuses and the high mount tail light still won't work! Since I have no clue on how to check the wiring, I think it's high time I take my car in to the dealership. I just hope the problem's covered under the extended warranty. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

It turns out the brake light switch was broken. $8 for the part and $100 for labor! I don't know if I could've installed it myself but it was a pain to just check the fuse box under the dash so I can only imagine how the mechanic got in there and wriggle the part in place. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know in case you run into brake light problems in the future. Thanks all!

Wow, I haven't been on here in a while and that was my first suggestion was the brake switch since you said that none of the lights get brighter when you step on the gas. So I take it that it wasn't covered under extended warranty?
