I have a question...

Hey guys I'm new to the forums here. I just sold my 03 GTI 1.8T and am looking to get into an acura so I figured I'd come here and ask you guys for some advice. I found an 03 Type-S for $10900 (for sale by a wholesaler) and was wondering if you guys could tell me if this is a good deal or if I'm getting scammed here. I will obviously go and see the car and test drive it but I figured I would run it by you guys first. Here's the links:

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

http://cnj.craigslist.org/car/510253251.html

The cars.com link has the carfax report.

to acuraworld.

i'd say take it. for an 03 with 88k miles, that's not bad. mine's 05 and my mileage is around there already.

IMO - if the scheduled maintenance (oil & filter, Timing belt, etc) have been done, a Honda / Acura engine will go for 250,000 easily. My `94 Teg had 197,000 when I sold it a year ago - and now it's at 212,000 and still running!

Sorry - old skool - it was a timing belt /now a chain. As far as interval, I'm not sure but will try to look it up. I always change it a few thousand before the recommendation as the Honda is an "interference" engine - and it's cheaper to replace it before you have to (read, bend valves/ broken pistons).

Can't remember for sure but it's like, 90k or 100k. I did it on two hondas. Assuming the RSX is the same.

the guy at the dealer said the person who had the car last installed a cold air intake, but when i popped the hood i didnt see a cai...am i missing something? i see that there is no stock air filter box but i dont see a cai either. if theres anything unusual looking about this engine bay please let me know. i know on the dubs you can tell when someone rearranged the engine bay to install a supercharger or turbo charger, but i dont really know anything about rearranging the acura engine bays. thanks again

the cai is there. for the rsx, the cai runs under the battery through the fender then behind the front bumper.

here's how the engine should look like with the stock intake. pic below:

You know, if you are concerned...I think there are a lot of places one can go to that will spend about 20-30 minutes on your car checking it out for you for, like, $50-$75. The owner shouldn't mind. Not sure about dealers. Be sure to check out the warranty (if any).

And come back and stay in touch. Best bunch of help and joking around you can get here.

that is definetly a deal. everything looks good to me, even the engine is clean!

i think a stock with that much milage is about 11-13,00$ right? well you get it for 10g's and the goodies with it. (rims and kit).

I have an injen cai on my type s, if your still concern about not finding the intake, check your front driver side wheel, if you see a pipe running down to the bumper, then your good.
