K-Pro Basics Educational thread

The point of this thread is to educate all those willing to learn about the K-pro and the benifits there in. Some of the attatchments will require you to download Kmanager from hondata.com to view it. However sense there has yet to be a indepth look into K-pro on this board I thought I would take the initiative to help everone out if they decide that K-Pro is for them.
Rules for using K-Pro
1. Don't be scared of K-Pro its not hard to use and its very easy to learn how to do the basic a/f, nock tuning and basic dyno tuning of timing.
2. Hondata has the training vids on their website and watching them will help u greatly for doing the baiscs.
3. Do not do timing advancing unless on a dyno. You can try street tuning but if you blow your motor. You have been warned.
4. Street tuning datalog runs are best accomplished in 3rd gear and done from 2500-8400 (or whatever your redline is at -200rpm).
5. NA cars best a/f ratio is between 13.2:1 and 13:1 so anything in there is great. Turbo or S/C cars should run around the 12:1 area.
6. My spelling sucks so don't bother telling me its wrong if 4 years of college couldn't fix it then nothing will.
7. Altitude affects everything I am at 6500 ft above sea level. Therefor I needed to make changes to calibrations so that they would work properly. People at lower alt. will fair alittle better but probably shouldn't use my calibrations without a few corrections so u don't switch cam angles everytime u hit the gas.
8. All my tuning is done on 91 octane. All u lucky sons of guns out there who have higher octain will be able to advance timing alittle more then i can do to this simple fact higher octane= less chance of premature detonation.

Now to the fun stuff.
Normal mods like CAI or exhaust will not cause u to have to do any tuning to gain power. However to get maximum performance some tuning could be done. Once u get into mods like a Race header, cams, supercharger or anything like that tuning is necissary for maximum horse power and to create an enviornment that your car will be able to operate in.
I will speak specifically about Race Header (RH) tuning. Now all race headers are not created equal there are specific differences between each DC's has longer runners and is made specifically for NA while Jackson Racing is made for NA or S/C not as long of runners yet overall design is good for a multi perpose and you have a test pipe to put in or remove a cat. Also RH will cause K-series engines to run very lean so it is important that for the good of you car u tune our a/f into a safe range again.

Now to the meat and potatos. A/F 101
Now I am taking into account that u all know how to load a calibration and a datalog and look at that information. If you don't PM me and I'll help u out. This is what a car with a RH looks like on the normal hondata rsx.cai.calibration. As u can see the a/f is very lean aka not cool. So modifications to this cailibration had to take place. K-Pro has a cool little option called lambda overlay. You can set this overlay by going into your Options>settings>lambda overlay and setting the medium load for 13.2. For high altitude people you must change the low load and Only modify colum 7!!! For everyone else you'll modify colums 8-10 on the high and low cam. Now to know how much fuel u need to add you will go to Tables>Low or High speed fuel and look at the numbers in colums 8-10. Then you will need to press the lambda overlay button at the top middle of the tool bar it looks like a triangle with a upside-down Y. In this datalog u must look at colum 7 because I am a high altitude guy. You will see that fuel is need to be added by those point ranges. Make sure that the box that says edit all tables is check at all times when doing fuel adjustment. You will then click on that box in the colum and then press ctrl+j and you get a pop up Adjustment Selection Value. go to the persentage box and either add or subtract the value u see in the that box. An example of this would be in this first run low speed fuel I had to add 8 to colum 7 at 2750 rpms. And that is about it if you repeat this and change them, do another datalog you'll have your a/f fix in no time at all.

In our next installation of K-Pro tuner I'll tell you how to remove that nasty nock that plagues K-series engines.

Yes but you need close to 100 ron (95 oct) for the mugen to operate properly. Then again u have an ITR engine so apples and oranges.

If you want to i can meet up with you some where and get u all set up and off to a good start. there are several things that need adjusted for high altitude rsxs that hondata didn't think about.

you should be able to easily smash that with your cams + tuning.
