Made up my mind...

As ever since I got my S/C installed, the fitment of the icebox was not right anymore, the box is not closed shut 100% anymore from the side that's right next to the block, which means hot air is going in. Also being that superchargers rely on air to do their thing, I need my source for cold air to be sealed tight, and basically to be working at its best. So having said that, I decided on switching to the Injen CAI, now is there a difference between the regular one and the CRSX edition, I like the color of the ladder with that magnesium gray and it's also cheaper. Is installation pretty straight forward? I know how to take the bumper off, anything else to it?

I'm sure you'll do your usual excellent DIY when you install the new CAI - and I look forward to that!

i had never done anything to a car other than change the oil and i installed my CAI installation easily. its really super easy. everything sort of fits into place. it only took me about an hour and a half; however, i had another set of hands helping me. you will have no problem with it.

It's easy as hell. I don't even know how to change my oil and I put on my CAI.

Is the Icebox for sale?

driss.....it's pretty easy to install. probably easier than installing that sway bar of yours and function7. also, it should come with the installation. since it's your first time, it'll probably take you 1.5hrs-2hrs if your installing this yourself.

taking the bumper off like i said before, it's pretty simple. take 10minutes for john, it's 30minutes.

DIY? even jen installed her own intake.

Yeah probably Cloud, let me know if you're interested. However I'll tell you right now, after I take it out I'll take it pictures of it and post them for you so you see it before we do anything.

Right on Willie, one more question, I thought I'd heard something about having to cut something around the battery tray or something like that. I'd rather not do any cutting.

Driss, If you go to the Injen site and click on the part, you can download / view the instructions. It looks like you have to cut some of the inner-fender to make it fit correctly

I smell a DIY if you elect to take this step.

nope, don't need to cut the battery tray. in fact, i never cut anything. but some people here did cut their fender just for better fitment on the pipe.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. You don't have to cut. There's a little metal tab that's in the way, but you can just bend it out of the way.

There is the fender cutting which is recommended, though.

Damn, late again.

Driss is probably a neat freak (well, possibly... ) so he may opt to do what I did on the tray--I used a jigsaw and cut it off, then painted it silver to match what it was (and stop rust). Bending is an option, I guess.

But, what you really need is the thread where people helped me when I did mine. Dave-Clappy helped out quite a bit! With the instructions on site and at, what (?), CRSX--it should explain a lot. Part of it, for instance, is removing the stock intake. You'll be removing the icebox.

Let me go find that thread.

OK, July 14, '06.

Injen CAI (ready to install)

If I were you, I'd allow a good afternoon for it. Prolly won't take you that long but I think people feel better when there is no pressure.

That's a good thread I posted.

I think mine is the red one (though it really can't be seen much).

ok cool, I'd like to see pictures of the different parts involved in the installation as I'm not dealing with removing the stock airbox. If that little hose with the "U" shaped clamp needs to be back on, then hopefully they didn't throw it away and is still with the stock intake system in the box
