Need new tires.

So I lost it last night right into a snowbank, coming into a Michigan turnaround, doing about 30mph on a road that normally runs 60.

Slammed the front end right into the snow at about probably 10, 15mph, ABS wouldn't stop me. Front of my passenger side bumper is popped off, the screw that holds it in place in the wheel well holds the plastic that snapped off from the main bumper. Small crack just below the headlight in the bumper, foglight molding broke off. Goddamn stock tires with 24,000 miles, absolute crap in this snow.

Anyways, now I'm shopping for a good high-performance all season tire that will do much better than these stupid Michelins that have no bite in the tread. 225's here I come!

What about Falken 452s? There's only one review I found on there about improved driving through snow on a Mazda 3, which is about the same weight as our cars I think.

Lucas, the best thing to do is go to tirerack dot com and use their tire decision guide. Enter in your preferences and the conditions and they'll narrow down the selection for you. After that you can read the reviews and go from there.

I've had these on an old 03 CL-S. Cheapest I've found, $101 for 225's.

Yeah, I've been looking. I just wish they rated the Falkens. :\

Don't get the Kumho Ecsta ASX. That's what I got and they aren't that great.

Nokian tyres come from the COLD ASSED side of the world And they know snow and ice. Best all season tire I ever drove on!

Damned shits are expensive!

Looks like I'm going with a set of these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....peed_rating=(Y)

I have to call my Discount Tire to double check the 215 vs 225 rating. Last time I was there back in October I was told a 225 would fit on my stock 17" wheel.

In my experience - you get what you pay for! When it's safety and handling - I'll scrimp on my Starbucks or dinner at Ruth's Cris to stay safe and fast!

those tires doesn't look like their good during winter.

rated:

6.4 - light snow
6.6 - deep snow traction
6.6 - ice traction

dunno about you, but if i were you, i'd find something with atleast 8.0 rating for snow.
