Question about a weird noise coming out of my clutch
Well im looking for a solution to this issue I have.
It has something to do with my clutch and me accelerating from stop to go. A friend of mines told me that its jus the clutch trying get a grip on the "umm, something wheel" :dontknow:. except, mines make a much louder noise than usuall. Anyways, this happens when im at a complete stop and im trying to move the car, as i Release the clutch slowly and start to add in some gas, at a certain point where the clutch catches on) it makes this weird, low tone rubbing noise that almost sounds like a low squeek. once, i realease the clutch (off course) the sound goes away. its just really embarassing. my question is, is there any way for me to eliminate the sound or atleast decrease it a bit? say maybe spray some wd40 somewhere? |

whatever your do, do not spray oil or lube on your clutch. If anything, it sounds like you clutch might be wearing out.

I agree, it sounds like your clutch is worn. 56,000 is about right, depending on how hard you ride your clutch. If you don't do any track days, probably just do a factory replacement. I believe it's gonna be just under $1,000 though.
If you want to go aftermarket, Exedy makes some serious clutches ![]() Oh and when your friend said "something wheel" he meant "flywheel" ![]()

In your case, it does sound like a clutch issue. I run a Exedy stage 1. Little bit stiffer then stock as well as a lower engagement height, but the nice thing about it is that the engagement point is very clear. Its not mushy and vague like the stock unit.

I agree with the others. It sounds like your clutch is worn. A squeak usually isn't a good sign for any moving parts because that usually means bad friction between metal objects.
I've been told that clutch replacement will cost about $1,000. Whatever the problem is you should get it checked out soon. Squeaks from a car isn't really a good sign of anything. Last edited by Mike_AR : 12-28-07 at 11:34 PM. |

Labor in itself, you can find a good independent to do it for around $300-400 for the labor only.
