Probably no help but once my Dodge van did that in the parking lot of K-mart. Turns out there was this stupid little ceramic white block on the firewall that was messed up. (this guy told me about it) It was wired in series to the starter (or something). I thought it was a bunch of bull but the part was like, $7, so I bought it and put it in and it started right up.

Don't know if anything like that is present these days on cars but...it's about all I can think of.

In the OLDer days of distributer caps, they sometimes got moisture in them but we don't have that any more.

Another problem was fouled plugs but that's probably not it either.

Fuel pump? If it ain't pumping fuel, it'll turn over all day long and not start.

Hopefully, the chip isn't messed up.

(sorry, I'm not much help)

if its just cranking and not starting, it sounds like you're not getting any fuel. The likely cause for that is probably an immobilizer malfunction. Quite rare in our vehicles, but not unheard of.
