Car 1: 2003 SSM RSX-S
Trying to decide b/t 02-04 and 05-06

Im trying to decide which version Type-S to get. I like the looks and advantages of the 05-06 but know that I won't be able to afford as many mods for a while because It will cost more. I like that with an 02-04 it is easier to put a K-pro in and would be cheaper so I can afford more mods but they aren't quite as nice or as quick stock. Im not really sure what I want to do. I know only I can make the decision but any advice on how to make it would be very very welcome.

Thanks in advance

Well, visually, the series are very close. I like the headlights / taillights on the 05 / 06 better as they don't dip into the bumper the way the first generation RSX does.

Can't say I know a great deal about interior differences.

You raise good points as far as mods with the K-Pro: Are there any major differences in scoring engine / body mods between the 2 series? Other factor is mileage: Will you score a lower mileage 05 / 06 as they are newer.

Look what's available in your area. I am very happy with Acura of Turnersville as far as sales, service and body shop. They were the best priced, did not pressure and gave me a better price than I was actually looking for.

Good luck!

John

I'm right near Acura of turnersville, They don't currently have any Type-S's but that may change b/t now and mid-november.

At this point I will probably go with whatever I get the best deal on.

A side question for you Nikon1... are there any good places around us to do K-pro tunes?

More to come later, after lunch when my mind is thinking about more than eating... but there are more bodykits for teh 02-04 than the 05-06. Just food for thought.

I'm more about sound and show than go! Check out my Avie - I'm down in that area every weekend - and, no, I don't work at Turnersville.

If you are planning on doing a lot of modding, I'd go with a 02-04. There's more parts for them, the parts are cheaper, and they can be made to look just as sexy as the 05-06's. They do have the same body curves, after all.

But there's also advantages with the 05-06s that you pretty much can't make up for: lower mileage and better colors (IMO), for a start.

Weekends are spent in Sewell (Washington Twnshp). Look for the MM RSX with the body kit, Killer lights, blue Angel Eyes and a 20th Anniversary Acura logo on both sides of the High Wing. That's mine.

Will do... If you see a random Grey 04 honda civic flash its lights or honk its probably me. (It's me family's car that they let me use untill I get my money next month and buy the car) the car has two placards on the fron. right above the Lic plate it has a Rowan University EMS placard and below it has a Taunton Fire Company Placard.

K-pro will only work on 02-04 ECU. but if youre just doing IHE you really dont even need K-pro. get a 2005+. also it will cost less to make it mildly standout and look great, no need for lip kit.

comes down to personal preference

Well what do you all think of this... its Kind of what Ive been thinking

get a DC5, I/H/E Reflash, maybe some mild suspension stuff now. Then when I graduate (2010) and go on active duty (thus making significantly more money) Start going a little more wild. Upgrade to K-pro, maybe a turbo etc... basically Im thinking mild now while im a relatively broke college student and then go crazy when im more well off. I plan on keeping the car a long time and having it be an evolving project as the years go by.

I should also Add i like the kind of stealthy look of leaving the exterior stock save for maybe wheels. Im much more of a go person than a show person.

Well the post you quoted says DC2 but it was a typo. I meant to say DC5, I was posting what My plans are for the car so I can get better advice on whether to get a 02-04 or an 05-06.

Thanks for catching my error it has now been fixed

We're pretty quick to catch errors - but very forgiving when they're fixed!
