Why is my car burning oil???

Sup guys,

I have a 2006 RSX Type S with about 7500 miles only. The car burns about 1 quart of oil every 2-3 months. I do drive her pretty hard tho...I dunno if that makes a difference and also drive a lot more city than freeway. Also there are no visible leaks. I dont have any oil puddles on my garage floor. What gives?

Burning oil is a common issue. If you bring the car into VTEC often, expect this. Only way that I know to prevent this is either get an oil cooler or use better oil.

^^^ Thanks for the reply. So I'll try using better oil. Anyone have any good experiences with Mobil 1?

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic in mine, get hardly any oil burn even though I very aggressively, very frequently. Changed over to synthetic when I was at about 15k miles.

Mobil 1 isn't a bad oil for its price and avalibility, but there sure are better oils on the market. Espically since the additive package that use to make mobil 1 so great is no longer the formulation used because of EPA requirements. Outside of Mobil 1, I'd look into other oils like Royal Purple, Redline, ENOS (or however you spell the name of that JDM oil), and Torco (I had to plug this in since they sponsor the car, LOL).

Plug for sponsors. hehehehhee. Nice.. I've been using Mobil 1 since about my 2nd or 3rd oil change. Haven't had any issues with oil consumption after it got used to Mobil 1. VTEC and oil go hand in hand.
