The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour
This is what it looks like... in silver.
From what I can tell we're off to an iffy start. The front grill isn't as hideous as the current Acura styling but it is MASSIVE. I could fit at least 4 small children in the grill and they would be comfortable. Sure the 3.5L V6 needs some cooling but is that really quite necessary? But moving on. Other than that the body of the car isn't too bad. Nothing to write home about but not a failure by any means. Its just somewhat bland, kind of how an Accord is supposed to be really. Honda's Toyota Camry I guess. But the biggest fault of this car, and the reason it will never achieve its potential as a 4wd optional Honda is that it isn't offered in a manual. Wait, did we just hear that? Four wheel drive Honda sedan? Yesiree bob thats correct. For $34,020 you can get the EX-L model that comes with a Honda's Real Time (TM) 4WD system. Don't ask me how well it works though, if Honda decides to put me in one to test it out then I'll be sure to let you know. Until then I'll have to wait for a test drive in one. Optional equipment that you can get includes leather, satellite navigation, auto-dimming mirror, rear view camera. All the standard options. Except for the sat nav and rear view camera, that is all standard on the EX-L. Those goodies come standard on the EX-L With Satellite Navigation... Why it needs its own class is beyond me. They could have just left it as an option for the EX-L. Which it essentially is, a $2,200 option. Thank you much but I'd rather turn my head around to see what is behind me and learn how to read a map. Interestingly enough all the 'trim levels' have the same color options. A handful of metallic colors including "Polished Metal Metallic," a non-metallic red, black and a pearl white. Interior colors have many options as well, consisting of black and tan, depending on the color of the paint. The red is only available with the tan interior. Go figure.
Options, there are loads of them. Underbody kit, trailer hitches, mud gaurds, everything you'd expect to see on a car boasting off road capability. Though the trailer hitch is a new one from Honda to me. Not a bad idea with that V-6 in there. That way I can take my race tires to the local autox with me! I must say, with the underbody kit and a ski rack it looks quite agressive.
Other options include wheel locks, 18 inch rims, cargo bags, ski rack, bike rack, you get the idea.
Interior options are even less exciting, floor mats, trunk mat, door pocket, oh and this, a $97 Interior Illumination option. What is it though?
Wait, I did that to my 10 year old civic too..... It didn't cost $97 bucks either.
Remote start and backup sensors are options as well if your into that kind of thing.
And the important numbers!
Horsepower: 271
Torque: 254
Curb Weight: 3852
Which reveals a power to weight ratio of 70 horsepower per ton. Move along folks, nothing to see here.
Just for shits and grins I looked up the specs for the 2010 Subaru WRX STI since it is the benchmark AWD car at this point. 305 horses and 290 torques at 3400 curb weight puts it 19 hp per ton ahead of the Crosstour. But it also costs ..... the same?!?!?!?! Sorry Honda. You've got a great name for reliability but I'm not going to buy a Crosstour for $34 grand without all the bells and whistles when I can get the same deal with more go with the STI.
Anybody else have an opinion? I was just kinda bored.....

Wouldn't even look twice at it. Oops, just did. I received an email some time back and had to puke and now here I am looking at it again.
You see, my reputation precedes me...anything resembling some sort of SUK (errr, I mean SUV) makes me gravitate 180 degrees the opposite direction. AND, with the obligatory name that is supposed to conjure up all sorts of imagery of one exploring the unknown parts of some wilderness in it ALWAYS makes me laugh.
In actuality, I'm not sure what this thing is supposed to be...a regular "car" I guess.
One thing is certain, if the front ends/grills of cars get any uglier, people may just opt for mopeds.

Well I guess we won't be seeing any of these listed on the board anytime soon. I didn't think it looked THAT bad.
