For those of you who do your own taxes.

Question for you guys/girls that does your own tax, do you guys use a tax software like H&R Tax Cut or Turbo tax? or do you just go to a website like the one I use which is http://www.eztaxreturn.com, which you do not need any software.

I'm just wondering

If its simple, just fill out the pdf form yourself. Its not hard if you just have a W-2 and a couple of 1099's for interest and dividends. I use TurboTax because I have the business.

I use turbotax for the web. It's a secure website and does all my e-filing, etc for me.

The problem with Turbo Tax is that it has made some serious mistakes on some of the farm and depreciation forms I have to use since I am still getting farm income. I haven't tried any of the other software. However, if you are going with EZ or short form, or a limited long form, it works really well.

I just do it the old fashioned way, pull out the W2's and the calculator. Takes me maybe 1/2 hour.

Lemme guess:

No kids
No owned house

Those deductions are an asspain - especially when you get into home offices.

Try being self employed, sole proprieter. Figuring out the self employment tax is horrible.

Yep, Ska is a 21 year old college student. He'll get his edumacashun here soon enough.

That's why I just give everything to my CPA to do. All I gotta do is figure all my accounts. Profits, Income, Expenses, etc. Just put them all on a excel spreadsheet and give it to my cpa.

I would suggest a good CPA. If you are bent on doing your own taxes, then Turbo Tax, and get the full version that has everything.
