Will the last adult leaving AcuraWorld.com please turn out the light.

A short while ago, we were all was contacted via email by autoxCLS regarding what we could do to make this site better. At the time I didn’t have a suggestion to offer, but recent events have changed that.

The last two posts I have made (both last night) have made have been rather benign in composition. One was a simple post about me selling my second car, and the other was regarding a mishap I had last night where I drove through something nasty behind a restaurant that made my car smell like rotten eggs.

The comments I’ve received to those posts include (names withheld to protect their idiocy):

(to the unfortunate smell my car acquired)
“okay”
“thanks”
and my favorite…
“You are cool”
(then the tread was locked – probably for the best, as you can see the conversation was going absolutely nowhere)

(and to the post about me selling my car)
“two thumbs up- that car musta sucked”

If you want to attract valuable contributors to this website, you need to raise the quality of the posts on it. Let’s face it, nine page posts about snoops and chiefs, and 300+ page posts with no more content than a bunch of smiley faces won’t attract your average Acura aficionado.

Lets face it folks, the average age of an Acura owner is not 19 to 25 years old – it’s more like 45. If you want to attract more serious Acura-minded people, you will have to put away these childish games and gibberish posts, and build up the quality of the content of this site. If this site’s true goal is to appeal only to the 19-25 crowd, than change the site’s name to immaturerice.com and continue to operate unaltered.

If I can’t get a response any more intelligent than “two thumbs up- that car musta sucked,” than this site is a waste of my time.

Wow - I'm quite sorry you feel this way, but bear in mind that the Lounge is specifically there to keep the crap OUT of the specific car forums. Yes - the Lounge does indeed get a lion's share of traffic, but that is a result of the members' decisions of where they prefer to spend their times. I'd love to have more car-related content in the other forums, but you guys - the members - decide what goes where. For me to bitch about the lack of content would be a temporary fix, if that.

Let's be honest here folks - I pay for this site as a hobby - it's a labor of love. Once we've all done most of the mods, etc there isn't much left to talk about except with new members.

I would, however, like to see the fellow Acura owners to try to help others with their requests whenever possible - it's a small thing to ask.

I hope we all take this as a constructive criticizm of something that has indeed occurred here - but I stand by whatever decision you all as individuals make to create content here.

wait a minute I just re-read your above post and you sound like a real dick pal! you sounded like you were happy about getting rid of the Altima, I just confused that as dislike for the car.. now I realize it was meant as you being pleased you were able to sell it. but I stand by my original statement-

that car musta sucked

You know - one other addition - if you ever, EVER have any issue with a mod or supermod or admin, get in touch with another admin, supermod, etc. If it's about me, you're SOL. JK of course - I'm just one of the admins here and I am not beyond reproachment either.

I see a lot of posts saying "I hope this doesn't get deleted" but I haven't seen the deletions first-hand to support that.

Hell - I would rather respond to these than try to sweep them under the rug - even the management may learn something from it.

I
Sky I watch the first gen forum like a hawk and ALWAYS try to help those people, or anyone for that matter, but WTF is anyone supposed to say to this dude about him selling his 96 altima? what help is he looking for? cant he ignore people who are just having a little fun? why is he being such a tight-ass?

I wish there was more traffic in first gen, it would probably keep my retarded ass out of the Lounge a little more, and God knows we dont need me stinking up that place

No specific insinuations meant, bro. Hell - I personally feel this isn't the case and that for the most part, we take care of most requests. I even looked up info for one of the posts the other day. I guess we can always do better, but it's just about having fun and all so why get so worked up?

And did I just do an about-face? heh

In regards to age, I think you're wrong....most Acura owners probably are in the 19-25 Demographic. Although I am out of this range, I've been to some TL meets and this is predominantly the age I see. Definitely under 45, by far...really far. Probably RLs and MDX are 45 and up, but RSX/CL/TL/NSX I would say are predominately 20-35.

It sucks your posts rec'd unintellectual responses, perhaps it was a waste of your time. However, as Sky stated, most people here have done everything to their cars already and now are just "kicking-it" in the Lounge. A place to say anything, even if it's .

I understand you completely. I try not to respond unless I have something to say. However, from time to time, I enjoy jumping in on meaningless OT threads and giving just one or two thumbs up. I think I have gained some "on-line" friends through this childsplay and I know, in reality, some of those ppl could/would be my everyday friends. And some are becoming just that.

(IMO, the good spiritedness here is a welcome atmosphere compared to the non-stop whining/bickering/drama from atl.com)

Well i go to many forums, and i really dont see people over 30 on them. i think thats just the way it is. But either way i understand your point, and people on this forum have different taste in humor. So the remarks in your threaad was im sure just them messing around. i mean what did you really want them to say about your car smelling? What would you have said if i made that post?

I would have said you are a curry loving piss-head and you need to shower.

But all kidding aside. I try to visit the "all other car discussion" and "gallery" sections daily and for the most part, I do. Since I don't have a TL anymore, I rarely go to that section, but if I can answer a question someone has about the TL, I do so without reservation. I am sorry you felt the maturity level of this place is that of a shallow cess pool but thats what makes the lounge fun.

If people attacked you in other forums and whored in your threads, then I am sorry for that. Don't take this place (the lounge) too seriously though. It is a controlled free for all and we are always happy to get crazy with new members.

Like sky said in the email, if there is anything we can do better, let us know. We are open for suggestions and this site is for the members, by the members. Whenever someone suggests something, it is discussed in the mod corner and we take it very seriously. Don't let our stupid constant brain farts get in the way of you obtaining serious information from this site.

Again, my apologies and I hope you stay around.

Why is everyone apologizing to this guy? He got 2 lousy replies and he's crying about it.

If you don't like the lounge then don't come in here...it has nothing to do with Acuras.

There's plenty of 45 yr. olds in here who enjoy this site. Age has nothing to do with it, old or young.

Lastly, if you think this place is a "waste of your time", then ooookay you know what to do...and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
