got spanked by a 1996 accord

hey guys whats up

i was coming back home tonite when i passed a 1996 accord with altezza's and exhaust (what i could see). i thought woah another rice honda. i proceeded to pass him, get back into my lane, and accelerated a little bit... and he followed. so i floored my ****, from about 70 to 95 i was getting away, but then i saw his car swerve in my rear view and he suddenly started to catch up (pretty fast too). by the time i was doin' about 125 he was at my rear bumper and he could've passed me (there was only one lane at this place so he couldnt). i was VERY surprised.... i suspect he had NOS, what do you think?!

btw i have intake and headers and i had the heater at the maximum (heat/flow).

just wanted to share my experience

I don't think he has a Type S, so I don't think that would make a difference.

just push the shifter forward to upshift, backward to downshift.

you can keep the car floored while upshifting.

downshifting: i suggest reving the engine a bit and downshift (to adjust the engine's speed to the tranny's speed)

I thought Sportshift was only available on the Type S. With Sportshift, you can keep the accelerator down while upshifting, as you stated.

If you just have an automatic, you can potentially damage your tranny while downshifting. It's a wasted effort to try to match engine speed with tranny speed on an automatic, because revving the engine will also increase the tranny's speed. The only way to avoid this is to disengage the tranny, which would mean shifting into neutral first.

On a manually tranny, it's easy to match engine and tranny speeds as you only have to use the clutch to disengage the tranny.

Yes, you can downshift with an automatic, but you are NOT matching engine speed with tranny speed by giving it some gas before you downshift. The only way you can do that is be disengaging the engine from the tranny when you give it gas.

btw guys i made a test yesterday nite. i made 2 runs. one with the heater turned on (max speed, max heat) and no SS (just like when i raced the Accord). and a second run with SS and heater off.... well lemme say.. there's a BIG BIG difference. with the heater and no SS, the car would be fucking mad slow over 105mph... with SS and no heater, it would pull fucking hard until 125 when i slowed down... so maybe that's why he pulled on me

i hope i'll see him again one day and ill make sure to spank his a$$ this time
