MY LIFE FLASH BEFORE MY EYES TONIGHT.

First I have to say Thank God Im Still Here.

Guys trust me, its not how careful you are, its how careless the other person is.
Im in New York, Brooklyn, heading to Queens on the Belt Parkway. Me and a white TL go at it at the start of Rockaway Pkway. (when I drive, I don't drive too reckless because its not like im racing for money). When he started he was twisting and turning doing everything that looks ridiculous just for me not to past him, So I sit back a little and let it ride. Waiting for the big move to take over. By the way, there was traffic, not that bad though, just enough for us to be in and out of lanes.
There is only 3 lanes. So I keep back in the left lane, watching him cut in the far right lane and then down to cut back in the middle. He didn't go as far but to him, he was still infront.
Sitting in the left lane a Maxima was in front of me(look like a 2002 or 03), He decide to join the race.
I got room to cut in the middle then to the far right lane. By that time the Maxima didn't realize that I was already beside him. Yes Yes, he come over but realized , but by that time I have to come over more to the right enough not to hit the banking on the right. Doing that tilt to the car at a 100mph cause the car to drift to the left then to the right then again and again, that is when I know I was going to lose control.
My car did 720 degree turn on the Belt Pkwy at a 100mph, just holding the steering there is nothing I can do.
During that 30seconds I start having flash backs on people who keep telling me to cut out the racing and the speeding, People that dream that I had accident, Insurance going up, Im going to hit the banking, Other cars is going to hit me, The car is going to flip over, and the worst part thinking that your going to die right now.
It was so amazing, I have to thank GOD because there was traffic before and when I start spinning the traffic was gone. After the 720 turn finish it start reversing then I go ahead and step on the brake to come to a full stop. Amazingly I didn't hit the banking or any car. I think the TractionControl keep the car straight. All I can see is bright lights everywhere, All I can hear is tires squeeling. The car stop, facing other cars coming towards me. But they already see what had happen and had slowed down. I make a U-turn and drove away without a scratch.

Right now I am telling myself that I won't race again, but I hope I stick by my word.

Everyone PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY, I KNOW I WILL FROM NOW ON.

HAS ANYONE BEING SO CLOSE TO A CAR ACCIDENT AT NUMEROUS SPEEDS? SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE

AGAIN THANK GOD IM STILL HERE.

glad you are alive...

street racing is dumb.

I've spun out a couple times in a couple different cars... each time I wasn't even racing, the coditions, just got the best of me...

one of the biggest reasons, I say street racing is dumb is because there is absolutely no way to guarantee that street conditions are safe...

one time I was entering a decreasing radius turn on ramp behind a jalopy that decided to dump a giant portion of its oil on to the street in front of me... I didn't have a chance... I didn't even realize that the oil was there before I was spinning... I jumped the curb and probably damaged my tires, but nothing but my ego was damaged... the two cars immediately behind me slipped too, but they slowed down after seeing me spinning, so they didn't spin as much... the did tap each other, but there was no noticible damage.

another time I spun, was in the rain with bald tires... no body around, but still embarassing. I cracked a rim on a curb for that one.

another time, a truck made a right turn right onto my street and right into my lane... unfortunately, the street I was on was pitch black in the middle of the night and they didn't have their lights on... but they must have realized that they were not on, or they may have been fooling around, 'cause they suddenly turned on and I was able to see them... I was going way too fast... I swerved to miss them... and ended up in a power slide and slow spin, and subsequent total loss of control... I eventually hit and went over the center median right between two trees... if I hit a tree I would have been in some serious pain... i came to rest on the far side of the other side of the street... got out checked for damage... surprise, surprise, a couple dented steel wheels, but they held air... and I drove it home without incident...

last one... an actual accident with other cars involved... and some more spinning

on the freeway, going with the flow... about 80mph... a small brown hatchback (I think it was a mitsu mirage) merges into traffic but cuts across three lanes at once to do so... the guy obviously didn't see me when he passed only a few feet from me... and then after nearly killing me, inexplicably decided that his lane was looking too slow up ahead and comes right into my lane as I was about to pass him... to avoid him smashing into me, I merge into the offramp lane but traffic was stopped in there... so I frantically try to slow to a stop from about 80mph... I wasn't gonna make, it so, I quickly look in my mirror and make the same mistake that the brown hatchback did, I assume that there is no one there... I move out, to avoid the stopped traffic ahead... right into the path of a volvo station wagon that just barely clips me, and sends me into a spin... I come to rest by smashing sideways into a montero that was waiting at the offramp...

TLover8888 Who are you refering to? Here in Brooklyn, there is no ice or snow on the streets or highway.

jinny Im glad you are ok too, But you see the main problem? SPEEDING thats the main cause.

I had little small minor accidents before but nothing like this.

thanks

yeah, I admit I have a lead foot... I try to watch myself these days, since I usually have a baby in the car now... and I've since "upgraded" to a slow as molasses 1st gen Acura RL. no more racing for me...

besides, all that spinning I did was when I was young and stupid... I have since, grown up a bit and, for what it's worth, taken Ambulance/emergency personel driving courses (I worked on a paramedic rig for a spell)... I'm still stupid, but now I have a pristene driving record and I'd like to keep it that way.

Congrats!

Well, luckily I am still young and I haven't had anything happen to me yet. But who knows what is coming for me? I just hope for the best.

Not yet...we're supposed to get that tonight into Friday.

Nonetheless, I'm glad that you're ok! God truly works his wonders whenever he wants! I remember getting into an accident on the FDR Drive and spun 2 times on the drive. It just so happened that there was no traffic when that happened! And all NYer's know that the FDR is always packed. Hopefully you will remember this the next time you're tempted to speed! God is good all the time.....

i am glad your ok. i had near death experiences where some girl was driving and decided to be dumb and played with the wheel at like 60mph and hit a phone pole and we had no seatbelts. it hurt but i was ok. only was in pain for a little more then a week. after the acidents i been in, i get scared when others drive. i am like paranoid. i even drive slow now. i wish i can end my paranoid behavior when others drive.

You are a lucky person, unlike the guy that was killed 2 weeks ago just down the street where I live. 2 racers going east bound on Imperial HWY. 1 took off after seeing the other lose control hit a pole and a mini van.
Don't do it man, save it for the track!
Think of the people this will affect for a long time, not to mention your family.

Man see this is what happends when you are going 100 MPH in NY. I've seen a 2000 Teg' on the I-87 on the Tapan Zee doing about 110 MPH I was Heading down to Canada Im Doing about 95MPH on the far left lane. He pulls up Behind me and overtakes me from the right. There is a Jeep Cherokee in front of me Doing about 85 MPH anyways im on the Cherokee's ass trying to get him to move over to the right. But the Teg is in the Cherokee's blind spot anywyas without signaling or anything the jeep just makes a sharp right and hits the Teg's From Bumper at about 110 MPH the teg just drifted sideways for about 5 seconds his passanger door was in front of my Hood. He hits the barrier the jeep's rear bumper flies off and hits the car behind the teg. man that was a mess. I pull over and call 911 as fast as I could. The Teg was gone, the front end was totalled. All I remeber was the driver screaming and blood splattered on the window and on the air bag. He smashed his head on the window wich left a nast big cut, also he had a broken leg. The driver of a jeep was okay. The car that was hit by the bumper had a smashed winsheild and that's it. Since that day I realised how Fukin retared speeding and Tailgating is. If the jeep slammed his brakes My TL would have just hit it I Would have been Fuked too, But thak god no one was seriously hurt. Now I try to leave a safe distance from the car infront of me, and always drive at about 70-75 MPH.
