RE: Should I challenge an '02 Monte Carlo with my 03 TL-S?
MST3K writes (great show, by the way)
"Should I challenge an '02 Monte Carlo with my 03 TL-S? I know a guy who has an '02 Monte, I think it's the 3.8L SS. He actually JOKES about racing cause he is convinced there is no possible way I could beat him. He put one of those performance chips in but that is all he has done. I haven't done anything performance-wise to mine. But if I could take him..." Yes, you should race. Your tl-s will eat an 02' montel carlo. If you read my post on page nine of your thread, it may explain somewhat why. Even tho i didnt get into gearing and weight. You are pushing, what, are 260 hp, 230 lbs/ft? with similar weights? He's got 200 hp/225 lbs ft, slow gearing, and and automatic worth cringing over. I've owned a late body monte carlo (laugh please, i still do) and it's slow as fat man heading toward a veggie platter. You're tl-s, assuming it's the auto, will beat it handily with no worries. If youre lucky enough to have the stick, youd have to skip 1st to lose. And on top of all this, if for some strange unapparent reason, you lose (maybe he has modded his, loads of mods for that engine) remind him that you still get to drive home a tl-s. Such a beautiful car. Thanks for listenin'.....and long live the love of all things cars.

Serious? I didn't realize this. I'm new to Acura, and assumed that because a stick was available in the cl-s, it was in the tl-s. Haha, a stick is available in the cl-s right, well when they were still making it?
My family has and will always be a staunch american auto supporting family. I'm the first in my family to buy a non-american vehicle. And had my parents bought it for me, i would have a alero now or something like that. Maybe a yr. old cts. Every vehicle we have is american, even if they're not the best choice for the money. But I'm paying for the tsx now, where i'm making money from a work term, so dad has left it to my choice. Speaking of choices, can someone point me towards a good mod site for the tsx? And by that, i don't mean forum, but an actual company like, uh comtech?

The new TL is now offered with a manual tranny. FYI, the TL and CL were both based on the previous gen Accord, which meant that it was made here in the U.S.

First of all. A monte carlos are not worth racing(they drive like cruise boats on land). Secondly, it's just waste of gas(high gas prices). Monte carlos are so slow my grandma probably smoke it. hahah Even if it is the SS Supercharged, it's still not worthy.
